Well, I went to the doctor's office today for a check-up.  All is well.  So, the grand total so far is 21lbs.  Isn't that amazing? I can't believe it!!! Now, mind you I lost all this in three weeks.  I was 262lbs. the week before surgery starting my liquid diet.  Now, two weeks post-op I'm down to 241 lbs.  That means I lost an average of 7lbs. a week!!! Woo hoo! I'm doing well.  I'm sure it will start to slow up now, but I'll still be happy as long as I'm losing! Yay! The surgeon was so delighted to see my weight loss and quizzed me on everything that I eat and reminded me all about the protein.  I did tell them about the weird sensation I get when I move my neck fast, and when I go to reach for something.  They thought perhaps I needed to take it easy and not lift anything--so, I won't have a protruding hernia.  They are going to keep an eye on it.  That's what I was afraid of, but it was abdominal surgery, so there was a possibility of having that happen.  So, I'm going to take it easy and not lift a thing.  So, I better make sure to take it easy.  That's the hard part.  They said I could walk though, but no heavy exercise as of yet.  Alright, well there's an update!!!

I've been really bad at posting on here.  At first, I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life by getting the LapBand.  When I was in the hospital I did so well.  When I got home everything went to shit.  I had such horrible pain in my left shoulder/ribcage area from the gas they used that it was painful to even breathe.  I was miserable and hungry, and smelled the food cooking and wishing I could eat with my family.  So, I was a miserable. 

A few days went by and things got a bit better.  I was drinking my protein shakes and feeling a bit less hungry.  The pain in my shoulder/ribcage still persisted and I was feeling discouraged about that.  Everyone kept on telling me to walk....so, I did.  Now, on the 11th day....no pain in my shoulder or ribcage and breathing isn't a chore anymore....LOL! Thank God!!!

Well, I'm 22 pounds down and a back to being a brunette again! LOL! I got my hair done and decided to make another change and go back to being a brunette.  I will post the pics soon, once I get my son to help me figure it out.....I'm hoping by today I'll get them posted...so, everyone feel free to take a look and tell me what cha think!!!

My advice to anyone out there is to just stick it through.  This is one of the most challenging things you will go through, but it does get better.  Try to stay positive and think of the future outcome!!! It's all worth it in the end, discomfort and hunger will not prevail, but a healthier thinner you will!!! Best of luck to everyone and if you have any questions feel free to drop a line!!!!

Well, here it goes.  I'm scheduled for a 1:45pm surgery.  WTF? I'm dying here with no water or brushing of the teeth!!! Eeek!!! Well, wish me luck!

Well, it's official!! I just had the surgeon's office call me saying approval has been received and I'm good to go for surgery on July 23rd!!! How freakin' exciting??? I am so happy I can cry!!!! This gives me a second chance on life.  I can one day be titrated off of my BP pills and perhaps get my blood sugar in line!!! I'm so happy!!! No more foot/back pain.....no more stress incontinence....I can't wait to see results!!! Watch out, world!!! Cuz a new healthier Shannon is well on her way!!!

OMG! I just got off the phone with the ins co and they said it looks like I've been approved!!! I was a bit worried because as of yesterday they said it looked like I wasn't going to be approved!!! I'm so happy I could burst.  I just spoke with the lady from the ins co and she said it looks like the pending case number will also be my auth number and I got it right here!!! I'm so happy.  The ins co also said official word will go out to the surgeon's office today and I should be receiving an approval letter within the week!! Woo hoo!!!

I'm feeling a bit anxious and am a bit nervous because my surgeon's office has yet to hear anything back from my insurance company on my approval.  I pray to God that I have an approval this time.  I'm a bit anxious and am wondering if I should contact the insurance company directly about my approval? I just don't want to find out a day before my procedure again like last time.  It's not nearly enough time to call them up to fight for my surgery.  Any suggestions anyone?

Well, right about now I'm starting to get together all the Disability forms for my time out from work.  I was going to go back to work within a week, but decided I better give myself some time to heal up before I head back.  I know a lot of people have no issue heading back to work in a week after having the Lapband.  

A few years back I had an appendectomy and ovarian cyst removal and I under-estimated the healing time.  I was out for a total of nine days and all it took was lifting a 25lb ream of paper and pushing a patient in a wheel chair to remind me that I had abdominal surgery the week prior.  I hurt myself good, so this time around I decided I rather be safe than sorry.  Besides, the hospital will go on without me around, so I shall be safe and heal properly.  

So, this is my first time taking any sort of disability benefits, so it's new to me.  I have to make sure the forms I have are all squared away before the surgery.  

I still am worried in the back of my head that 1199 won't approve the surgery yet again.  I hope that's not the case and it's still a go ahead! I need this surgery.  I need to keep thinking positive.  I'll keep you all posted!

Oh, yay!!! I got a call from the Surgeon's office and I'm scheduled for the LapBand on Wednesday, July 23rd!!! Yippee! I'm so excited.  I'm still wondering if the insurance company is going to give me any drama, but I'm going to remain optimistic.  Yay!!!! Ok, I have a six chapter test in Microbiology and I've got to get back to studying!!!

Sigh....I finished with the pulmonary consult on friday and had the PFT done that very same day, too.  I'm anxious to hear from the surgeon's office about a date.  I hope it's in late July sometime.  That would be just perfect!!! 

Well, off to study.  Hopefully, that will keep my mind off of the telephone ringing...ha, ha!!!

Hi, All!

Well, I'm just feeling a bit down lately.  I am so anxious to submit all the pre-op paperwork and I have to wait until the Pulmonary consult on Friday first.  It's just frustrating because I've been trying and hoping for three years for the surgery, so I can move on to a new, healthier me.  Thank goodness for my summer class (Microbiology) at the college, or else I'd really be going insane.  At least that's keeping my mind elsewhere in between.  

I can't wait to have the surgery and post my post pics like everyone else!!! I want people to say, "Wow! If she did so well and was successful--so can I!!"
