Hi Sherry, My surgeon did not REQUIRE, but RECOMMENDED that I try to lose 25 pounds prior to my surgery, which is to happen on September 16th. I think that there are many factors that lead her to her recommendation. One is that if you lose even a little weight before surgery, you will lose some of the fat that is on your liver. That will make it easier for her to get inside of you and do her job to the best of her ability. Another reason is to see if you are willing to make a committment to try to become a healthier person. To see if you have the willpower necessary to do the tough things that we say that we can't do. If you can't follow instructions now, how will you when you have had surgery? There are people who think that just because they are having this surgery that they are entitled to have many "last meals". If you are going to have this surgery, why not go at it from the healthiest perspective possible? I do not think that I am entitled to pack on another 10, 20, 30 or more pounds before surgery because I THINK that I have never been able to lose weight before. My surgeon is so tough and there are other patients of hers here that will verify that she WILL NOT OPERATE on you if you gain 1 POUND more than what you weighed at your first consultation with her. Don't believe me? Ask Lee Anne, she will verify that I speak the truth. You have to make the committment to change. I know this and I am 9 days and a wake up away from my new healthier life. Congratulations Sherry - 73 poundslost already! That is fantastic. You will have a good summer this year as you can go to the factory stores in Vacaville and get some really cute things to wear. I was just up there this past weekend, and thought I was going to pass out from the heat. Mind you it was only in the upper 80's - I used to live in Vacaville and would pray for the heat not to go past 96 degrees so after being away from it for awhile, I forgot how hot it gets and how uncomfortable I would be carrying around this extra weight. I hope I do as well as you when I have my surgery next week. Keep us posted by updating your profile whenever you get a chance - I know it is hard. God bless ~ Venus
