Here We Go Again ...
Oct 15, 2018
I had WLS in June 2011, and lost over 115lbs. Then I stopped. I stopped losing and I stopped caring. Life, as they say, got in the way. And I gained about 75lbs. back. I don't blame the surgery, I blame me. It didn't fail me - I failed it.
After trying WW (several times) - I did lose only to gain it back when they 'upgraded' the program - I decided to swallow my pride and go back to the clinic. Oddly enough, it was because I had a ruptured ulcer that I was able to skip the GP referral part and get 'back in line'. My emergency ulcer repair surgeon said I had to check in with the clinic, and that's when I decided to look into what possibilities there are for updating the surgery. Dr. Hong told me to wait a full year from surgery to ensure I'd healed properly and didn't have a reoccurrence of the ulcer, which I did, and then started back on the WLS path. My option is to have a 2-step surgery: first to return my RNY to a 'regular' stomach alignment, then a second surgery to perform the Sleeve. This will be a final solution. No 3rd chances. I don't plan on needing one.
