I would like to have the surgery but I need orientation on what insurance gives
less hassle ( my husband is about to choose insurance company again)
10/23/99
This is it. My hubby got the papers from work so we have to choose Insurance.
I've read all postings and profiles and got to the conclusion that the best
option is BCBS of Florida. It will be more expensive than the former insurance
we had but I really hope its worth it.
I will "sacrifice" my family with lower paychecks but I hope I get approved.
1/14/2000
I already got the insurance papers and all.
I decided my surgeon will be Dr Marema.
As far as I know first I have to go to my pcp to get a referal and then go and
see Dr Marema. What scares me the most it the ins approval...
3/16/00
Well today I asked my husband to call the Drs office just to check if there was
any progress on the ins approval and for our big surprise they told him that I
was just approved this morning!!!
I am so excited about this that I still believe its a dream.
I hope everything goes well in my surgery . I dont have a surgery date yet but I
think It will be within two months.
Good luck to everyone out there...
3/20/00
My surgery date is April 12.
I am so excited about all this I still cant believe it.
I am on the pre op tests and I hope everything goes well so I wont have to
change the surgery date ....
4/15/00
I am home and feel good. No complications and not much pain.
Tip: If you can have the rny LAP, go for it.......its the best way.
4/20/00
I HATE G TUBES.
I believe that leaving a G-tube for more than 3 days is a cruelty act
LOL....(provided you have no complications.)
This g tube is turning my life miserable and its leaking a yellow liquid ugh!!!
I called the doc and they said it was ok.
No!! Its not ok I hate it!!
Its horrible...
Depending on how i move, it may be painful.
I wont feel fully good until
they remove this Borg-alike
tube
Next Monday is my app to remove it.
12 (TWELVE!!!!) days with this !!
People say that this surgery is like beign born again ...that is very true ....
but if they leave the G tube too long its like beign born but still being
attached to the umbilical cord.
Thats how I feel ....
nuff said.
4/24/00
The Alien is GONE!!!!!
Finally today they removed the G tube. I feel so much better and free to move
painlessly.
I have lost 21 pounds since the day of the surgery 12 days ago...isnt that good
or what?
7/23/00
Well Its been a while since my last update.
I have lost 71 pounds since the surgery. I feel good and my energy level is like
a roller coaster...but much better than before the surgery. My BMI before
surgery was 48.5 (for the record).
My husband feels like he has a new wife now. I am so happy I had this
surgery...I'd do it over and over again....my appetite is gone for permanent
vacations...the surgery took away my pleasure for eating...I eat just because I
have to...but not because I want to.
See ya next update!

8/8/00
Well Its funny, until today I have lost 81 pounds (my actual weight now is 190
pounds) and every time I come to update this profile the number of pounds lost
ends with "1"...
Well I feel good, my hair is falling like crazy but I've been told by the doc
that It will grow back so I don't worry much.
My energy level depends on what I eat and if I take my vitamins on time. I have
found that the best thing for me to eat is tuna fish.
It has lots of protein ( which are essential during weightloss) and its easy for
me to digest and the best part is that It's already cooked ..LOL
I know I will get bored with the tuna fish sooner or later but in the mean time
I have to take advantage of it.
My husband still amazed with his new wife...he "discovers" bones all over my
body every week.
I feel guilty that I haven't exercised as I am supposed.....
Finally, I am wearing my old clothes...even my husband's pants already fit me!
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

10/27/00
Well my husband's clothes dont fit me anymore....too big now!!!
I am down to 163 and I cant be happier. that means I have lost 108 pounds in a
little more than six months...who said It'd take longer to loose weight having
the surgery in the LAP way? I dont even have the ring (silastic ring or
whatever) . I'm still convinced I have been doing the right decisions during my
life...and this was one of them.
Later.

For the record my last BMI was 29.8.
I am down to 152 and I am doing good. My energy level still a roller coaster but
I feel that my health in general is good.
My hair is not so good but at least is not falling no more.
My life has changed a lot and I should say that the change began the very first
day I found this webpage (Obesity Help)...

My last bmi was 27.8
I am still loosing weight but not as before.
I think I reached the top.
I've never seen my self as skinny as now. According to the bmi calculator I am
within the ideal parameters.
I feel good. My hair is growing back.
I am 5'2 and now weight 134.
I cant be happier with this.
This surgery gave me another chance to have a normal, active and enjoyable life.
bye!

6/7/01

It's been a while since my last update and it's incredible how many people keep
emailing me making questions about the surgery and how am I doing. I love it.
I am down to 116 pounds and I hope I dont loose any more weight 'cause I'm
looking kind of anorexic LOL...I'm delighted the way all clothes fit me...and of
course I look 15 years younger.
I finally donated all my "fat" clothes to the VVA.
I still have some dumping symdrome once in a while but its ok...I can eat almost
anything I want but in very small sizes, I already got used to eat very little.
I believe it was one of the most difficult lessons after the surgery: learn to
eat again.
Good luck to every one out there!

12/31/01

Today is the last day of the year. Im 106 pounds and feel inlove with myself. I
look really sexy and men stare at me anywhere i go.....damn Im good.
bye!

8/6/02

A lot has happened since my last update. I just realized that I couldnt handle
this body change. All these men chasing me confused me and I ended up divorcing
my husband. I am now 117 pounds. Yes, I gained some weight and Im a little
scared cause I dont wanna get fat again. I have a new boyfriend and sex life is
wonderful.

April, 1st, 06
Its been a long time since my last update. On the 12th of this month will be my
6th surgery anniversary. Yeah...I've gained some pounds, but not as bad as I
thought. I think I'm pretty stable now.
Im 135 pounds and still look great. Everybody tells me I look better now than
before meaning I was way too skinny, I looked sick and anorexic, even though I
was fine. I feel comfortable and healthy.
My second marriage didnt work out ... im separated but still "dating" my
separated husband...kind of a sick relationship.
I can eat more now than I used before. I still have the dumping sindrome when I
eat too much or sweets or greasy food. On my last medical exam I came out with
anemia....that's been a big problem since my surgery. Cant get rid of it. Im
eating a lot of beef heart...has lots of iron. Its delicious on the grill
seasoned with garlic sauce or mojo.
bye now. questions? email me at [email protected]
