I just read about your experiences with the lap band. i had the surgery 9/16/2005. It was good to see some real success. I never feel hunger physically, but my mind always wants to eat. I have lost 84 pounds, which my surgeon says is great, but I feel i could eat less and exercise more to loose it faster, but I cannot get over the mental temptation. certainly, I cannot eat the volume I used to. but i worry that i still eat too much. My Doc will not add fluid to the band as long as I contniue to show good weight loss. I feel like the will is going to break and I'm gonna try to eat a "cow". Have you gone through this? How did you deal with it?

Tessa, I was wandering around the boards tonight and I came upon one of your posts. I'm from Livermore, work in San Ramon. I will have my surgery later in the month. Do you ever visit the California Message board? http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/state-forums/CA You will find a lot of folks who live near by and they have get togethers fairly often. Pre-ops and post-ops are all welcome. From your profile it sounds like you are doing well. Keep up the good work. -SuzanneS

Hi Tessa! It's been awhile since I last e-mailed you. I hope that you are doing fine! I just made my 7 weeks post-op and have lost 40 pounds so far. I just e-mailed Dr. Cirangle because I haven't lost anything for almost 1-1/2 weeks. He wrote back and reminded me that muscle weighs more than fat and that my body was changing everyday. He said that at some points, the numbers would not change on the scale, but that I should still be losing inches. What type of foods are you eating now? I can eat practically any solid foods, of course they have to be healthy! Well, I'll be waiting to hear from you when you have the time. Take care and God Bless you and yours. Aloha, Pat Nicely

Hi Tessa, yeah that was me. I just got home from having surgery and I am doing really well. I just hope I can do as good with this as you have. If I have any questions I will be sure to ask, thank you for being so helpful.

Hi Tessa! What a coincidence! I was going through the message board today and saw the question as to "What To Puree?" I read all the responses, and than came across yours. Without even looking at your profile, I thought to myself. Finally, someone who's doctor feels the same way as mine!! I can't believe what some of the patients are already eating, but I guess the main thing is that it's alright with their doctors. I had my lap rny on January 10th here in Hawaii. But guess what! My doctor is also Dr. Paul Cirangle of San Francisco! He comes to Hawaii every 3 or 4 months and does surgery here in Hawaii. Isn't he a great doctor! I guess you were referring to his diet guide book when you mentioned that you couldn't eat mashed potatoes, refried beans, etc. For one thing, all of those things are high in carbs. If you notice Dr. Cirangle is really strict about carbs, sugar and taking in enough protein. I hope that you are making a speedy recovery! Let's keep in touch, it should be fun since we both have the same doctor but live across the ocean from each other!! Aloha, Pat from Hawaii
