Got back from Las Vegas last night where I met with a whole bunch of people from the July board. We had a blast. We had dinner at Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville, danced, went and saw Blue Man Group(hilarious) and visited extensively. We even rode the roller coaster at New York, New York. Something I never would have considered doing a year ago. What a great group, I love them all.
I had my 1 year checkup today. What can I say, my labs all came back great. Weighed in at 210 pounds(fully clothed) for an official loss of 220 pounds. Dr. Marshall is real pleased with me to say the least. I feel so good that it's hard to believe this isn't a dream.

Seems to be longer intervals between updates here. I seemed to be in a rut for a while. Not losing very fast lately. I think one reason is that I am no longer using the personal trainer. It was effective but expensive. When I went off overtime at work I just couldn't afford to buy more sessions. I have upped the resistance and length of my cardio tho and that seems to have gotten me back on the right track. Gotta remember to keep up with the strength training using what I learned from Antonio. The best news lately is that I think I no longer have Obstructive Sleep Apnea. My CPAP was causing me more trouble than good lately and I would wake up drooling and with a runny nose. I also have been having sneezing fits where I would sneeze 7 or 8 times in a row followed by tons of snot. (ewwwwww) I had a sleep study done last Sunday and hope that it will reveal my Apnea to be gone. I know for a fact that I can breath much better laying down now that before and that my neck is much much smaller than it was. I have been sleeping without the CPAP for the last 4 nights and the runny nose and sneezing have stopped almost completely. I guess losing 180 lbs can do that for you.

It's been a while since I updated so here's whats been going on. In early December my Dad took a turn for the worse. The blood transfusions were no longer working and he was detereorating fast. He checked into the Hospice on the 13th. Myself, my brother, sisters and their families left for Florida on the 14th and drove straight thru arriving early afternoon on the 15th. When we arrived at the Hospice we were informed that my father had passed away 15 minutes prior our getting there. I felt like someone hit me in the chest with a sledgehammer. It was just not in Gods plan for us to be there. Dad, I love you, I miss you and I will see you again.

Ok, stopped crying now so on to the other stuff. Needless to say proper diet and exercise were not the top items on my agenda. You ever put 15 people in a tiny seniors apartment? It's a good thing my family all gets along and believes in deoderant. Eating was a little bit of a problem. People were bringing food over constantly. I counted at least half a dozen chickens along with hams, lunchmeats, cakes and cookies. Luckily for me there was still alot of Dads diebetic diet food around and I ate most of that. I have a problem with chicken unless it's ground up so that was a no-go but I can eat ham and that went OK. The other thing was lots of eating out. I managed that OK and had lots of chili. I brought lots of protien bars and lived off them pretty much. Wasn't getting my protien shakes tho and am pretty sure my total protien was low. I wasn't getting enough exercise either. Went walking around some of the tourist stores in Kissimmi a few times but definately not enough. Did find out that when they tell you one drink effects you like three they weren't fooling. The tiki bar at the motel we were staying at was a release from the tensions of the day and we took full advantage of it. When I finally returned home to Michigan I was pretty much physically and mentally drained. It took until after the new year to really get back in the exercise groove. I had been off work of over 2 weeks and it was time to get back to it. I had been on a plateau during the holidays actually gaining about 6 pounds at one point. Happy to report that weight is gone and a little more too. Working out at a good pace and eating better is working again.

It's been kinda rough the last 2 weeks. On Wednesday the 15th I recieved the bad news that my Dad was in the hospital with some pretty bad infections. On the same day I discovered that my basement had flooded from a heavy rain on Tuesday and I had 2 inches of sewer water down there. Everything touching the floor was ruined. Not much time to clean it up either as I am currently working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. My brother, sister and her husband and my best bud Frank came over after I got home from work Saturday and helped me get rid of all the junk. On Sunday I came down with a nasty cold. I felt like a reheated turd but I went to work anyway. We got new management at work and it is not a good time to be missing from the job. Too sick and tired to work out at the health club. I went an entire week without exercising at all. My Dad got out of the hospital after 9 days of "incarceration" as he called it and is doing better. Cold is finally getting better. I did real good at Thanksgiving. Went over my sisters for dinner. Ate half a turkey thigh, a few green beans, one slice of cranberry sauce, one deviled egg and a micro small piece of pumpkin pie. I chewed everything real good and ate slow. It took me longer to eat my little plate than it took my sister and bro-in-law to eat their big plates of food. Everything went down good and stayed down. Finally got back to the gym today. Antonio worked me like a dog but it felt good. I was worried that I didn't lose anything this week but when I got home I weighed myself and found I was still losing.

.Broke the 300 pound mark this week. It's been at least 10 years since I've weighed under 300 and the best part is that I know I'll never weigh that much again. Exercise program is coming along great, doing 70 minutes of cardio almost every day. Strength training is progressing too. Antonio, the personal trainer I work with, says that I am doing great. I don't get as sore as in the beginning and recovery time is better too. It's all good.

.Reached a milestone today! Weighed myself this morning and found that I have now lost 123 lbs. That is 1/2 lb over the halfway mark to my ultimate goal weight of 185 lbs. 123 down, 122 to go! It seemed so far away when I was just starting. The years of my MO had conditioned me to think it was impossible. I feel so good now that I can't imagine how I'm gonna feel once my goal is achieved. And it WILL be achieved. But hell, I've been working hard on this since my WLS. Nothing motivates you more than results and my results have been beyond my wildest dreams.
