My story, WOW!!!!! I feel so important (LOL). I will try and keep this short since run on sentences are my thing. I had the lap band performed in Mexico December of 2007. Yup I slid across the border right before they started making everyone get passports (thought I was smart). So 3 years later and after the price went up my ass just renewed my passport (Duh). Well I lost 100 lbs and then stopped getting fills because hell let’s face it I wanted to eat. I always had issues with the band I feel like I threw my way up to losing 100 lbs, I use to have what I called a “throw up cup” and would not travel without it. Long Long story short my weight started getting back out of control (gained back 60 of the 100) so I was like BAMMMM I will use my tool (band) and go get a fill limit my food intake and lose the weight I put on (Simple Quick Fix)…. Um NO (pump my breaks………) I live in Texas and the nearest Fill Center that services people that had their surgeries out of the Country is in Austin TX (an hour away). So last December right before Christmas I was like time for a fill. I went to Austin got on the table the lady hit me with the needle 2 CC’s of fluid swallowed the barium we are all watching it through Floro>>> Bam the fluid goes straight through??? WTH…. So she hit me with another 2 CC’s>>>> Bam straight through again? You gotta be kiddin….. I’m like um this is not right she was like no its not. When she went to pull the fluid out of my band she could only take out ½ CC after pumping 4 CC’s in me!!!! Long story short I have no idea what’s wrong with my band (maybe a slip, maybe a leak, maybe erosion). I will not find out until 3/22/11 when I go to have my revision (yes back to Mexico). I don’t blame my Doc I blame that damn band (and maybe the tech that gave me the so called fill, still not sure yet but she could have blown my port out). N E Wayyyyyyy I will have a scope done when I arrive and that will tell the whole story. I am praying for a revision (so I don’t have to be operated on again in 6 months) but the Dr has to take a look around inside first. He told me it’s gonna depend on how much tissue was compromised by the band and a few other things. All self pay by the time this is said and done I could have bought a fairly new Honda (LOL).
