Dr. Daniel Herron is Director of the Program for Surgical Weight Loss at Mount
Sinai Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mount Sinai
School of Medicine.. He completed a residency at Tufts University/New England
Medical Center where he studied both open and laparoscopic bariatic surgery
under Dr. Peter Benotti and Dr. Scott Shikora. After finishing his surgical
training, Dr. Herron pursued a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery and
minimally invasive techniques. 

Dr. Herron is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Society
for Bariatric Surgery. He frequently serves as an instructor in the Mount Sinai
Bariatric Workshop series and has lectured around the United States on advanced
techniques in laparoscopic bariatric surgery.

Dr. Herron is very active in the development of new bariatric surgical
techniques and the refinement of existing ones. In particular, Dr. Herron has
developed a number of improved methods to perform laparoscopic anastomoses
(surgical connection of the intestines), which he uses in his bariatric
