My first impression of Dr. Li was that she was straightforward and truthful with no nonsense mixed in there. Over time I felt that her professional candor as well as her warmth about each patient was a needed tool for patients/clients in the situations facing them. I have no negative comments about her. She emphasizes aftercare as well as knowing what to expect if aftercare is not followed. She stresses the risks of all surgeries if aftercare is not adhered to. Her office staff, (especially Tamme and I can't remember her name but she helps you after you have received your date) are excellent. Because Tamme can relate on a personal level she is helpful and supportive to talk with. Nancy, the dietitian is very helpful in advising you on different approaches to getting all the protein... [Click here for more] and vitamins you require. She is friendly and willing to work with you when you are occasionally late, not just turn you away. I would rate Dr. Li in professionalism, bedside manner and an ability to enstill warmth(with a hug and a smile after every visit),and confidence in her and your ability to eat to live not live to eat,on a scale of 1-10 with a 20. I am now now 8 weeks out and 52 lbs. thinner Thank you!

Dr. Li performed my VSG on 2/8/10. Everything went very well. I had gone to many seminars held by different surgeons but had heard so many possitive things about her that I was willing to travel a bit further to see her. During my first office visit with her she took her time to answer a two page list of questions that I had developed. She did this willingly and didn't rush me even though it was late in the day and I knew I was probably her last patient. She is known for hugging her patients and this warm gesture goes a long way in feeling comfortable in placing yourself in her care. Her manner exudes both competence and straightforwardness. Her staff is also wonderful and the program they offer at Sinai Hospital is comprehensive, including a good bit of pre-op testing and education,... [Click here for more] excellent care while in the hospital, post op education, and requires a lifetime of medical and nutritional followup (1 wk, 1,3,6,9,12 mos vistis and then once a year). She rates a 10+ in my book for both her bedside manner and her sugical competence.

I originally started my weight loss process with Dr. Gandsas at Siani Hospital's Division of Bariatrics & Minimally Invasive Surgery, however, he was honored with a new position at a different hospital and Dr. Li inherited his patients. I think I was a little apprehensive at first because of the change but I was sure anyone who worked with Dr. Gandsas was going to be very professional, and I was right.
Dr. Li made me feel at ease the first time I met her. She wss very professional, direct and answered any questions I had. She explained all the risks of surgery, what I should expect during and after surgery, and she also told me that ultimately the surgery was a tool and the actual work had to come from me.
The day of my surgery, she came into the pre-operation room to let my... [Click here for more] sister and I know the surgery would begin soon and again she made me feel at ease.
My sister reported that during the surgery, she was kept up to date on every aspect of the surgery by Dr. Li and the professionals who were working with her. My sister said Dr. Li talked to her after the surgery and informed her that things had gone well.
When I was sent to my room, Dr. Li was involved in every aspect of my care. I had a complication after surgery and she did not take any chances, she had me moved to the floor that could best monitor my progress and called in any specialist she thought would made my recovery a speedy one. She came to see my everyday and the bedside manner of her and her colleagues was excellent.
When I was released from the hospital, I was sent home with an extensive information packet that explained everything I could expect during my recovery at home and who to call if I should have any questions or complications.
Siani has a very comprehensive weight loss program. Before surgery you have to have a battery of tests (done to clear you for surgery), you meet with a dietitian who schedules you for a 3 hour nutrition class (which you are required to take) and several "weigh ins" for insurance purposes. They have several support group meetings during the course of the month that anyone is invited to attend (pre and post surgery). They even have a "tasting" party where you come and not only sample products, but make purchases and get free samples. After your surgery, you are required to attend a 2 hour transition class where they help you transition to eating "solid" foods again.
The office staff is very professional, courteous, and they are very discreet with your information. They make you feel at ease before you see the surgeon, and they always have kind and encourgaging words for the patients.
My experience has been a very rewarding one!!

Iam scheduled to have my surgery 2/15/2010. Iam really excited to have it done. I was orginially suppose to have Dr Gandas in the same practice to performe my surgery but he has moved on to anthor posistion. I met Dr Li a couple weeks ago in she is so friendly and very personable. She smiled in made you feel like you where the only person she had to see. The staff in her office is excellent right on point with everything. I was very impressed with the procdeure in the office. Dr Li gave me a big hug in said she hugs all her patients. She not much older then me but her knowledge in experince is far beyond her years. Iam looking forward to see in sitting down talking to her at my preop appt on 2/09. Just the short visit I had with her she has put my mind at ease with having the surgery.... [Click here for more] My only concern now is the insurance company complying with with my surgery date.

My first impression of Dr. Li was !!wow!! she is really young, but very informational and caring. The impression that I had of her from the beginning is the same one I have now. She is one of the coolest down to earth physicians I have ever met. Once I discussed having surgery with my pcp, and endocrinologist, I gave them Dr. Li's name and everyone of them spoke highly of her. Even last month I mentioned her name to my Gyn and he said that she is an awesome surgeon. She takes her time with her patients, never rushing, and always giving the patient time to ask questions. Her staff is awesome and are with you every step of the way. Dr. Li is definitely the surgeon to go with. Posted on 01/11/2010 |

I met Dr. Li through a referral while I was in the ER due to complications with my band. She has been a major help in getting me back on track. Her office staff are wonderful and helpful as well. Tamme, the nurse who weights you in, is the best I have ever seen. I think Dr. Li has surrounded herself with great people who help make everything much easier. Dr. Li set me up with Nancy, the nutritionist. The program they have set up together help educate you on what to expect along with how to optimize your weightloss. Dr. Li is quick to tell you that it takes work. The surgery is just a tool to help you. I find her to be very easy to talk to and very helpful with answering questions. I feel like she really cares about what happens to me now and in the future. I am scheduled for surgery... [Click here for more] on January 12, 2010. I will let you know how things go in the hospital.

I had been to two of her Bariatric Seminar's prior to meeting her at my first consultation on 12/30/09. I have found her, on each occassion, to be extremely personable, knowledgable and sincere. I look forward to working with her and the staff at her center over the next several months as I begin my transformation. I am confident that I have found the best team for me! Posted on 01/05/2010 |

My first experience with Dr. Christina Li was during an informational seminar many months before my gastric bypass surgery (August 2008). I felt that the staff’s presentation and Dr. Li’s subsequent review of the procedure, its possible complications, benefits, and expectations were clear, concise and, as I would find during the months after surgery, right on target. I was particularly impressed with what I would characterize as a compassionate yet no-nonsense approach. I feel that she truly cares about her patients and their long-term success but never sugar-coats potential problem areas. rnrnAt the third seminar I attended I was accompanied by my wife who had quite a few reservations about the surgery and possible complications. Dr. Li took the time to answer all of my wife’s questions... [Click here for more] then and during future office visits. This contributed greatly to my wife being comfortable with the surgery and completely supportive of the process. Without family involvement and support no one should enter into this process. It is a lifelong change that must have complete support from friends and family.rnrnIn my experience, the office staff throughout the months leading up to surgery and, at this point, one-year-plus after, has been consistently outstanding. From receptionists to nurses to dietitian Nancy Lum to Dr. Li, this team has one single-minded goal: Patient care and long-term success. rnrnAlthough no one is 100% perfect, I can honestly say that I have found nothing to complain about with Dr. Li and her team. I may have a few issues with Sinai Hospital’s (Baltimore) handling of some situations, but, this team has never faltered.rnrnIn my opinion, this team knows what they are doing and they have a lot of experience with bariatric surgery and the process that makes it successful before and after. I feel that the structure is designed to make sure that every surgery candidate completely understands what is about to happen to him or her and what will happen, if the advice and guidance is followed, afterward. rnrnDr. Li, dietitian Nancy Lum, and the entire support team have my highest regard. They become like family because they want each patient to succeed and are willing to give of themselves to help you through the rough spots, and, there will be rough spots.rnrnNo one should go into this thinking it is going to be easy. It is not. What it is is life-changing. In my case I think that my overall health would have deteriorated beyond repair if I had not had the surgery, lost the weight, and allowed my body to shed several life threatening ailments. rnrnThank you never seems adequate for what Dr. Li, Nancy Lum and the team have done for my life, and, most importantly, my future.rn
