My surgeon was recommended to me by my goddaughter's mother who has gastric bypass surgery over 18 months ago. I love my surgeon. She is so down to earth and very knowledgable about each surgery and the whole process of bariatric surgery. The staff in the office are very pleasant and professional and are willing to help you out each time you contact the office. I love the bariatric program at Sinai because their center is a center of excellence and has been profile many times in various medical magazine. Initially, I went to a seminar over @ GBMC Hospital and I was not please with their seminar nor the fees that were required of you. I am so glad I made the decision to come to Sinai because I would not have it any other way. As far as negativity, there is none. Posted on 07/26/2008 |

A friend who had a gastric bypass done by Dr. Li recommended her to me, even though I had already chosen (and had an appointment with) another surgeon at another hospital. I went to an information session where Dr. Li spoke and decided that I wanted HER to be the one with my life in her hands. She has a great bedside manner - friendly, caring, and yet takes things seriously. She doesn't play around - and that's what I want in someone who'll be in charge of opening my body and moving things around. I got my appointment with her quite quickly and the office staff were very friendly.
I ended up having my gallbladder out (3.5 cm stones!) and a liver biopsy, and her office handled everything. She did all 3 procedures, updating my husband as she went. I spent about an hour with... [Click here for more] her at an appt before the surgery discussing the procedure, the sequence of events, and all of the risks. She made sure I knew what was happening and what was at risk.
She followed up with me during my hospital stay - I saw her a few times and she called my room to check on me during her day off. She (and Sinai) have a great aftercare program that is stressed just as much as the surgery and prep. They really educate you on the problems that can occur if you don't follow the nutrition and supplement plan exactly. When you choose Dr. Li, you also choose Nancy, the nutritionist. She'll answer your questions 24/7 and educate you on more than you thought possible. I'm a week out and feeling great.
I can't say enough about Dr. Li. She's just awesome. She ends every appointment with a big hug and words of encouragement and comfort. When's the last time one of your doctors did that??

I am exceedingly please with the service that I received from my surgeon Dr. Christina Lee. She was stirn but fair. She went out of her way to help me reach my goal. She was straight forward with all the "hard" questions that I asked.
The suceess of Sinai Hospital Bariatric program can be attributed to loyal employees who pull together. The staff deserve a standaing "Ovation". Posted on 07/14/2008 |

My experience with Dr. Li was a great one. She was very warm, highly interested in her patient's history, health, and well-being. She demonstrated good bed side manner. Her office staff was always professional. Dr. Li address all the risks of the surgery and answered any and all questions I had. I want future patients to know that Dr. Li will give you 100% aftercare on your visits after surgery and she gives the same interest before surgery. Dr. Li was recommended to me by a co-worker and every positive compliment she gave her I found it to be true. I am two weeks into recovery feeling fine and progressing. I would rate Dr. Li with excellent surgical competence and bedside manner. She takes interest in her patients personal as well as professional. My experience was a GREAT... [Click here for more] ONE. THANK YOU DR. Li!!!

I spent over a year reading, learning and contemplating weight loss surgery before I actually came to the decision this it was right for me. I went to the introductory meeting at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore where I learned even more and first met my surgeon, Dr Christina Li. She was very nice and spent a lot of time answering everyone's questions during and after the meeting with very direct and informative answers as did her staff. I was very pleased after my first meeting and felt I had come to the right place.
A few weeks later I had my first appointment with Dr Li and was a little put off that she did not seem to have much faith in Lap Band surgery which was what I had decided upon. I feel she worked hard to sway me into a full bypass but I was determined Lap Band was the... [Click here for more] right choice for me. I will say my opinion of Dr Li's insistence has greatly changed during the time I got to know her both before and after my surgery and I do understand her reasoning now. Dr Li cares about her patients and wants them to succeed in weight loss, to be healthy and live longer and for many, Lap Band just does not work.
The staff at Sinai are wonderful and always helpful with whatever it is you need. The nutritionist Nancy is always available and extremely quick in answering questions, giving tips and offering her guidance. The before and after care I have so far received has been really helpful and in my determination to prove to Dr Li I made the right choice with Lap Band I am doing awesome and Dr Li is not only pleased but has been totally supportive.

Dr. Li at Sinai Hospital was great! From the start, she was very professional, meticulous, yet also very friendly and agreeable. She was very staright-forward as to what needed to be done at each of the steps, both in pre-op and post-op. All in all, the entire Baraitric staff at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore was fantastic. The nutritionist and the support groups are excellent as well. Posted on 05/28/2008 |

My experience with Dr. Li was great. I found that she was very informative and caring. She
answered all my questions and addressed my
concerns.
The care that I received before, during and after my surgery was outstanding. I truly
believe that she cares about her patients and wants to do the best for them. She is a dedicated surgeon. I felt very relaxed going
into surgery knowing that she and her staff
were taking care of me.
Sinai Hospital and its staff was helpful in performing the tests that I needed and in the care that I received after surgery. Posted on 05/26/2008 |

First impressions were very good, shes direct and to the piont in trying to help your needs. Impressions didnot change much, I added caring to my impressions, she knows what shes doing. The office staff are very professtional and friendly, you are made to fell good about yourself. No lease likes because she's their to help me with my obesity issues. Future patient should know that Dr. Li's there for you and will help you, but you better do all that she says do or she will let you know. She's very heart warning with her patients. She is stern about aftercare, thats why we must do as she instructs us to do, so that we get well and have the best of health. Her gold is to see you loose the weight and drop as many meds as possible. Yes she does have a structured aftercare program, it... [Click here for more] consist of excercise, diet and regular visits with her and the dietician, also group therapy. The risk of surgery was read over with me and broken down for me to undestand. She's the best Dr. to me and for me. I,m glad that shes my Dr. I feel great about myself, I,m doing great, she really cares. I rate her excellent. Both bedside and surgical manners are great.

I first saw Dr. Li at a seminar. I thought she looked very young, but seemed to be knowledgeable and professionsl. Over time, I became more impressed because of my unique situation. I went through many tests and was under the impression my surgery was coved by my insurance. As a teacher, I had scheduled my surgery for July 3, 2007. In June , after all testing was complete, the surgeeons office called telling me there was a hold up. After days of calls, I found out that United Healthcare was not going to pay. I had my primary care physician and Dr. Li write letters stating how important this was for my health. Dr. Li's letter was wonderful- actually siting research. Unfortunately, the insurance company didn't see it that way. (even if they ever read IT!) I then obtained a... [Click here for more] lawyer, and by November 07 was approved. I returned to see Dr. Li and did not have to complete another round of paperwork, although I had to update a few tests. Because of that, and Dr. Li had a baby herself in December, my surgery did not occur until February 29th, 2008.
The staff at the bariatric office is very good at this time. I especially like the girl who weighs people in at the office. She is a former bariatric patient. One wouldn't know it, by looking at her, but her before picture is up on the wall with the statistics! This lady is always all smiles! It makes you feel good every time you go into the office.
If there is one thing I liked least about Dr. Li, was the time I spoke to her by phone, after an unfortunate call by one of the previous office persons. Without getting into particulars, this person gave me incorrect information which upset me greatly, causing undue stress and my blood pressure to rise on a visit I had for my cardiac evaluation. I understand Dr. Li was trying to be professional and take up for her staff, but the bedside manner of that conversation was not good. since that time, I have not had any difficulty. Dr. Li came to see me herself and sent others to see me each of the 3 days I spent in the hospital. All my concerns were addressed and the hospital staff was very good- from nurses to assistants.
Aftercare is discussed at the semiars and workshops. I was given a lot of material in folders. I have filled up a notebook with paperwork I have to refer to when I wish. all the risks of the different types of surgeries are discussed in detail. At Sinai hospital the aftercare program consists of various visits with the surgeon, some with the nutritionist, and others if one needs to see her individually. The support group topics are interesting and varied.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Li as a very good surgeon with good skills and bedside manner. She even impressed my Mom and daughter when they met her at the hospital.
