About this Hospital
The staff is OUTSTANDING! I have been to many hospitals and until now I have never seen one even come close to the quality of nursing care that the Uhiversity of Michigan provides, I must say that they have finally met their match!!
Many of the employees have had the same surgery done, this is such a wonderful perk. The staff makes you feel comfortable, they encourage you and they TRULY feel your pain. This is by far the best place to go to have this procedure done.
The facility is currently in the final process of its major renovations. When this completed the facility will be OUTSTANDING. The facility as of now is very good, but will improve dramatically when the second wing of the hospital is completed (in the next few weeks they say). When that happens all patients will have a private room...which will be a huge improvement. The rooms they are using now are very small and difficult to share with a roomate, especially when you consider the amount of visitors that some people have. |

I adorded my doctor but the staff didn't read my chart that my surgery was aborted and they were treating me like I completed the surgery. Also I wasn't made to coff when one of the tecks came in. I reported it to my doctor and they gave me a special number to call and the next day the vice president called me. I also got a letter welcoming me over to the other side. |

The Vice Precident was very concerned
about this. I just told him that I hope that it never happened to anyone else.
For some reason my pain meds didn't work very well. |

| Weight loss is Barix primary function....their specialty. They are leaders in Barix surgery. Barix Clinics has more success helping people achieve their weight-loss goals than any one else. Unlike other hospitals that specialize in other medical issues. It is only 3 clinics in the USA. I know several people with success stories from Barix and they look and feel Great!!
When I ask them would they do it again? I always get the same response…..Yes without a second thought.

As long as you dont mind the xray dept guy just pushing you into the machine and you dont mind some of the staff leaving you in the bathroom and them leaving the door open to the hall all else was good. The Adm came to see me personally when I complained about the xray exp, that was great. this probley would not have happened in a larger Hosp. |

| I selected Barix after doing a considerable amount of Internet research. I truly believe they lived up to their name and my expectations. |

Firstly, my doctor was Dr. Schram (it says Kam above but that changed and I don't know how to change it on here). I did not officially meet Dr. Schram until the morning of surgery, but he was pleasant asked my sister if she had any questions then suggested we pray before surgery. I was very impressed with this and it boosted my confidence. The staff at the facility were VERY accommodating to me and my sister who was came along with me. I would recommend Barix to anyone considering bariatric surgery. |

Barix far exceeded any other hospital I've been to in patient care. They were extremely attentive and caring. Barix is not necessarily aesthetically pleasing...somewhat dated in appearance. However, the top-notch staff is far more important than a fancy waiting room. |

| I had my plastics done there and felt that it was a good choice seeing as how I am a bariatric patient from another hospital and have had many friends who have had WLS done at Barix- this also where my PS works out of - and it seemed convenient also. |

Other than not well equipped dietarily to handle plastic patients, meaning this is a bariatric hospital so they don't offer much of a selection for those of us who need to eat post op from plastics- that is something they need to work on desperately. |

| I chose to go through Barix because it has a prevered provider contract with my insurer, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan. This seemed to speed up the approval process. I had approval from the Barix insurance department in less than two weeks from the date of my initial consultation, as soon as they received my psychological consultation and the letter from my PCP. |

Well, I can see now why Barix Ypsi receives so many excellent reviews on this website -- the quality of care I received during and after my procedure was excellent. The staff was personable and friendly over and above any professional requirements, and everyone was very contientious and on the ball, even though the last day of my stay was over the Xmas holiday weekend, and staffing was bare-bones (I was the next to last patient to go home). Everyone I met at Barix seemed like a friend. If the corporate bigwigs from Forest Health read this, take note -- your employees are great, and they all deserve big raises! I would recommend Barix to anyone! |

Big difference compared to Canadian hospitals. No one is dismissive towards you and there was always someone around to help. They do their absolute best to ensure you are comfortable during your stay. |

Very impressed with the nurses, especially Stacey, Colleen, and Jojo. It was completely accomodating to bariatric patients. To go to a hospital that specializes in this area was very comforting. I was also impressed with the follow ups from dietician and the fact that they are on call if you have any concerns or questions |

| I read about Barix from another patient's website. I researched Barix and found that everyone that had been to Barix was extremely impressed with their care and service. I decided to attend a consult and was impressed with what I saw and heard so I decided that was the place for me. |

Aside from being woken up every 2 hours the whole time I was there, the experience was awesome. Surgery was never so easy! I understand why they have to wake you ever 2 hours to do breathing exercises, but it doesn't make for getting a full night's sleep very easy! |

I have to give the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti MI a on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best a 9.8 and that is because there is nothing I can say bad about my experience. The staff of nurses and surgeons, and therapists, nutritionists, everyone was extremely pleasant, accomondating, and I'd do it again there without batting an eye. I felt safe and cared about the entire stay from the moment I got there until I walked out the door. They've called me since I was home and asked how I'm doing and if I needed anything to let them know. If you are considering this surgery, it is a top notch facility. The people care and show it. This hospital is specifically for the needs of obesity and baratircs. Everything here is made for this reason. Its much different and better than a general hospital. |

From the staff to the nutrition classes to the surgeons to the cleaning staff, all parts of the Barix Clinics is wonderful because they understand that this is a serious issue for the patient and they walk through every phase with you, beginning to end. |

I do have one bad comment; My evening nurse (Bob) was not at all pleasant. He was not encouraging or comforting in the least. He seemed so out of place on this floor where the rest of the staff was ++++! |
