| My decision to have this surgery was not something I took lightly. I took two years to decide to have it, after my research and with the guidance from my family doctor I chose Barix. They do not just tell you what to do to get qualified for surgery, they actually provide most of the tests and services. |

Barix Clinics is the most wonderful medical facility I have ever been to. Because bariatric surgery is the only thing they do there, they are experts. From the first entrance in the building and the chairs sized for their patients, all the way through support groups, clothing exchanges and post-op care, they are truly best in class.
Their PAT is the most thorough medical exam I have ever had in my life. Some may be annoyed by this, but I saw it as a reassurance that this major surgery and my life was in good hands. They wanted to make sure that every detail was as good as it could get to ensure my health, safety and best possible experience from this surgery.
The post-op care was amazing. I have had numerous "hospital" experiences and this was nothing like those. Thankfully. The nurses are very attentive and encouraging. They are with you. They walk with you. They talk with you. They explain what you are feeling and how to make it all work for you. Many employees there have had the surgery so on any given shift, you are likely to find someone who has "been there". I never felt alone after my surgery.
I have called the nurses on staff with questions when I went home and they are just as helpful. Never been able to do that before. Just TRY to call a hospital and get a floor nurse on the phone...ha. Not only did I get floor nurses, they were MY floor nurses. The ones I knew! And they said..."No problem, call anytime". Really? Wow. |

Barix is here for me forever. For the rest of my life. Their follow ups don't stop at six weeks. They don't give you a big "C-ya" on your way out of the hospital. Their follow up care includes annual follow ups...programs to guide you through your changes...a dietician that is there every day to help you with any questions you may have or just to listen to your frustrations.
I am one week post-op. I have lost 16 pounds. I know this surgery was the best decision for me and I am thrilled to say I had it. I also know that I had it done at the best facility possible. In many cases, you either end up with a phenomenal surgeon or phenomenal staff. I got both. |

My overall experience with Barix was awesome. Everyone from the CJ at the front desk, to the nurses who did my testing, xray tech, and expecially the floor nurses were excellent. everyone was so friendly it was totally amazing. Except for one miscommunication with my med level, all my needs were met quickly and efficiently. I never pushed the call button without an immediate response. I will definately recommend Barix to others.

It was amazing to me how the hospital is very accomdating to obese patients and their family. My parents and pastor who came all the way with me, had the opportunity to eat breakfast, and get comfortable during my recovery. |

This hospital is incredible. It is a BARIATRIC Hospital ONLY. They perform no other procedures. There are no podiatrists, no gynecologists..ONLY Bariatric surgeons here. Would you trust your hysterectomy to a proctologist? Of course not. Then why trust anyone else other than a surgeon who is specifically trained, skilled and dedicated to Bariatric patients and their needs. Barix is an incredible facility. Thank God for them. I would do it over 1000 times if I had to. |

| I selected this hospital because they specialize in bariatric sugery. This is the only thng they do here. The surgeon had low mortality, complication and readmission rates. That was inportant to me. The hospital was fabulous. EVERY staff member from housekeeping, nutrition and of course nursing staff was great! I had many people call and check on me ans they all commented on how pleasant the front desk was. I am 100% satisfied. |

I can only compare my childbirths and my husbands hospitalization at another hospital. They were by far, the best experience I have had with any hospital. From the first consult, everyone seemed genuinely nice, knowledgeable, etc. I was very scared going in for my surgery and the nurses helped calm me down. Post-op, hands down, those people knew what they were doing. As a nurse, I could tell that everyone had a game plan, and that plan was to get me better and back home. I could see a progression in care everyday. While they don't just let you lay in bed at your lesuire, lots of walks and coughing and deep breathing involved, they do leave you alone to heal when they don't need to bother you. The first day is pretty intense though. |

Overall, I can say nothing bad about Barix. Not only do I feel I am on the road to getting my life back, they had a firm but caring touch to get me going. Otherwise I would have just laid there whining about how much pain I was in. They taugh me walk walk walk, drink drink drink! The nurses there and the respiratory therapists were awesome! |

| My husband brought home a pamphlet from the Barix Clinics/Groveport, OH that one of his co-workers gave him for me. |

I have never been treated so well in any other hospital. I have been in several over the last 30 years and have had good and not so good teatment. But I have never been treated with as much respect as to my needs as I was here. The Nursing Staff at Barix is excellent. They treat the patients with respect no matter what the patient says or does. I saw a nurse getting "dressed down" by a patient and she just smiled and continued to treat that patient so kindly. I don't think I could have managed to do that. |

| I had another surgeon that was not very cooperative. They were hard to get ahold of and not very supportive and I did not feel secure with the surgeon when I met him. I made an appointment with Barix, word of mouth and commercials and I was sold right away. Dr. Barbara was so sure of himself which made me feel secure and nice as can be and answered any question you had and took his time with you. |

The hospital I was going to before, was hard to get ahold of. They had 2 days to get back with you. They were not very cooperative and this was not what they focused on. This was just a low percentage of their surgeries which showed.
Barix anytime I have called, if I do not get an answer right away, they call back right away. Everyone is nice, unlike the other hospital, always felt like I was bothering them. I never felt that I was bothering anyone at the Barix. You basically can call with a question anytime and get an answer. Dr. Barbara is wonderful, the nursing staff was wonderful, and the staff are all wonderful and always willing to help in anyway they can. The hospital is designed for overweight people in everyway and everyone is sensitive to overweight people. The place is excellent!!!!!!!!! |

Barix Clinic of Ohio do this surgery everyday and the nurses and staff go through training for this surgery they know exactly how you feel and what you are going through because a few of my nurses there had it done themselves so, I thought that was sooooooo relaxing and they were taking care of me I am very grateful. |

| Was going to another surgeon, but they were not very easily reached, bariactric surgery was not there main focus, so you were not taken care of very well. I also did not feel secure with the surgeon.
I got on the web and checked out Barix Clinics, made an appointment and from there I was sold. Doctor is so informative and nice and listened to you. The staff was so nice and anytime I called I could get ahold of them and they would answer any question or get one right away. |

My surgery went excellent, my care while at the hospital went excellent, and my aftercare so far has been excellent. I would recommend Barix Clinics and Dr. David Barbara to anyone.
Also, all the information given before and after the surgery has been so helpful and anytime I have a question, all I have to do is call. They are there to answer any of my questions. I can't say enough about the place!!!!!!!!!!! |

I've heard about other hospitals in my area being rude and insensitive to wls patients. I'm 2 hr and 45 min. from Barix and it was worth the drive. |

I rated the restfull and quietness only average, but that was ONLY because they make it clear that you are not there to rest. You are there for your WLS and then to recover. You have to walk at least every 4 hours, breathing treatments and liquid intake. You are not going to get any rest. But you are made aware of this way before you ever even check into the hospital. Up front and honest from day 1. |

| I knew that this hospital performed these surgeries every single day instead of on occasion. That is what made me feel "safe" with them. |

Other than Riverside, I'd say this facility was above comparison. They catered to needs of overweight patients, and most of the staff was accomodating because they had been through the surgery. There are those however who seemed to really have an air about themselves that stunk, but thankfully they didn't ruin it for the entire staffing there. |

I truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendliness and concerns of all the hospital staff. I think there was only one or two people who truly needed attitude adjustments in the entire staff...thankfully, I didn't have to interact with them that much at all. Kudos to this hospital and I'd recommend them to anyone! |

| I initially chose a different hospital but wanted a second opinion and found Barix on the internet and spoke with an acqaintence who had the surgery there. |

Barix is a full service hospital catering to patients having the Roux N-Y procedure done. |

I have had many complications...but not due any mishap the surgeon made. My surgeon, Dr. Barbara and his associate Dr. Stillmack (also a surgeon) have gone above and beyond the call of duty to care for me. I live 2 hours away from Barix. The 1st 4 weeks after surgery I was in and out of my local hospital (Southwest General). During that time, the hospital dr.'s and my specialist were able to contact Dr.'s Barbara and Stillmack at any time. My surgeons spent many hours discussing my care with my doctors, my mother and myself. They wanted to make sure my plan of care was appropriate for my condition. Although Barix is a fully staffed working hospital they are not equipped to handle emergency situations. My first complication was dehydration due to C-Diff. We drove down to Barix. They admitted me and gave me fluids and ran a KUB (x-ray of your belly) but were unable to run a cat scan or perform any advanced testing. They took great care of me and I was released w/in 2 days. My next complication I went to the hospital in my city which is a trauma 2 level facility. Although they were able treat me post-operatively, and run more advanced tests, their doctors had no idea what to do with me. I did not have one doctor who ever had a gastric-bypass patient. That was rough. So it really helped that the Barix doctors spent so much time helping my specialist understand my needs.
I want to note that I rated Barix excellent in every category. I did have one nurse that was aweful. She made sure she had the least possible amount of contact with me. I was happy I only had her one night and I talked with the nursing supervisor before I left. |

| Received the information packet and finally decided to make an appointment. I liked the fact that the only do weight loss surgery. |

No one could ask for a better medical staff than the one at Barix. Everyone was so nice. All staff members I had the chance to encounter were very professional and compassionate. |
