How Selected: It was the only hospital my surgeon performs his lap band surgeries at.
Competitors: I feel the Kaleida system in Buffalo is superior to other local hospitals
Comments: I felt great about my stay at BGH. The only reason I gave the quite question a "Poor" rating was mainly due to my roommate. After Weight loss surgery, patients go to the heart monitoring floor. So, we are not just with other people who have undergone weight loss surgery. She was an eldery woman who was not nice to the staff & she was half deaf. So, the staff had to yell inorder for the patient to hear them. And she was constantly calling the nursing staff. So, because of her, I didn't exactly have a restful stay. However, that really wasn't BGH's fault. I was only in the hospital overnight, but I found the staff was fine. It was one of those situations where if you smiled at them, said please and thank you, and did what they asked of you, they were great. I had no problem getting someone to answer my call button and they were very prompt when I asked for pain meds.

How Selected: I am an employee of Kaleida Health and found the Comprehensive Weight Loss Center on the internet
Competitors: BGH is top notch and I feel a far superior hospital to those in the general area that do not belong to the Kaleida Group.
Comments: I had excellent care, from the Valet parking, to the Tuxedo'ed gentleman who greeted me and took me and my family to my pre-op area, to the nurses who processed me and the surgery team that transported me and to the excellent anesthesia doctor and nurses who prepped me. I was asleep before I ever hit the surgical suite!! I was returned to my room within 2 hrs and reunited with my family. I was up walking at 6pm that night, pain meds came whenever I called and promptly I might add. What an overall great experience. Of course my surgeon is the BEST!!

Comments: I was placed on a telemetry unit post op for two days. The nurse the first day was excellent, considerate, helpful. The second day the nurse was impatient and rude. She made a comment about "you people who have this surgery", which pretty much explained her attitude. I feel we as post-ops would be much better served in a different unit or separate area. Staffing seemed short, and absolutely NO assistance was offered in turning or moving except being told to do it by any staff member. I was there 2 days post op and never assisted to get out of bed or told I could shower.
