About this Hospital
I didn't feel that the care takers did the job they should have most of them were nice but I did have one tell me she wouldn't help me up because the last time she did I hurt her. She wanted me to get my self up out of bed. I don't think they know enough on how to help people that have had the WLS, or maybe it's just they need to know how to take care of people that are over weight.

How Selected: Physician's choice - where his priveleges are.
Competitors: I've had much better nursing response care at a hospital that I usually go to for my medical problems.
Comments: The nurses were exceptionally busy & overworked. They barely had time to walk me more than once daily. I was told to get up and shower - without any help whatsoever. When I requested to shower I was told it would have to wait till night time because they were too busy during the day. The nurses were pleasant, but much too busy to give optimum care. I had to tell the dietary department that I was to be on sugar free diet which they did not know!!! Good thing I was semi-conscious to let them know. Amazing considering the hour long consult I had with the dietician pre-op. Sorry I don't have a better recommendation to the staff.

Competitors: I think that for this area this is the best hospital to have bariatric surgery.
Comments: I truely think the staff were doing there best, however I dont think they are educated in this particular field. This is a fairly new procedure. So to be fair they may get better in dealing with the obese patient as for now make sure you one person that you feel very comfortable around to be with you most of the time. Anyone wanting to know more email me.

How Selected: My doctor has privledges there and at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. Moses Taylor was my first choice but there was no surgery date available there.
Competitors: CMC is great for trauma, but if I had a choice for care, I would go to Moses Taylor Hospital.
Comments: I was on the 4th Floor (Pediatrics) the afternoon and evening after surgery. The nurses there were HORRIBLE!! They had NO CLUE about assisting patients who had abdominal surgery, they were very slow when requesting pain relief. Thankfully, I was transferred to the 6th floor. The nurses on the 6th floor who worked weekdays were ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC!! Thanks to Kelly, Ruth, Mary, and Student Nurses Danielle and Ann Marie! The Saturday staff on the 6th floor was HORRIBLE. I had a bathroom accident at 5:30 am and I asked about 10 times, to about 6 different nurses for the floor to be cleaned. When I was discharged at 2:30 pm the mess was still on the floor. DISGUSTING AND TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. CMC sent me a questioniare to fill out, you betcha I am going to fill that baby out. If it was not for those wonderful nurses on the weekday shifts of the 6th floor my review of CMC would be much worse.

How Selected: This was the only hospital with the available operating room time.
Competitors: It was all right, not the best, but atleast it was clean and the OR staff kept me totally at ease until I was off in never never land.
Comments: I believe my stay would have been much more restful if I wasn't roomed with an alzheimer's patient. She was constantly mumbling and talking to herself and GIGGLING!! I know that she couldn't help herself but I still believe that the hospital administration should have taken into consideration that a surgical patient would need to be able to rest and have some peace and quiet, not the ramblings and giggles of a mentally unstable person.

How Selected: This is where my surgeon did the surgery.
Competitors: I don't think it's as good as some of the others in the area.
Comments: If I had to do it all over again I would go to another hospital. I don't plan on ever going back there. The way I was treated wasn't right and I don't know if they treat everyone like that or just the overweight.
