How Selected: Dr. Jossart uses this hospital. The Laparoscopic Associates office is located in an adjoining building, right next to the hospital.
Competitors: California Pacific provided me with excellent care. Everyone that I came into contact with there, was so kind and gentle. They gave such caring treatment to me. The nurses were amazing.
Comments: I was so impressed with this hospital. The rooms were quiet and the nurses were so attentive. The bed was of an ample size to hold my wide girth comfortably. They installed a trapeze bar above my bed to help me get in and out of bed with ease and the nurses made sure I was always ahead of the pain. That is so very important. But I think what was the nicest thing about the hospital was, the nurses brought in a roll away cot for my husband to lie on without my husband or myself ever mentioning anything. My husband decided to sleep next to the bed in a nice reclining chair that they provided. This is a great hospital with an amazing staff!

How Selected: It was the least expensive of the hospitals in the area for self-pay. Also, so many of the more prominant baby area bariatric surgeons use CPMC so I figured they'd be adequately equipped. I was right!
Competitors: This is my 7th surgical experience and all my surgeries have happened in the bay area. And of all those surgeries, this was BY FAR the best hospital experience I've had, hands down.
Comments: California Pacific Medical Center ROCKS! That was easily the best hospital experience I've ever had; great nurses (every single one), fast help, excellent pain/nausea control, a private room, a fabulous view of the city complete with the GG Bridge...and this morning, POPSICLES!! Seriously, I can't speak highly enough about this hospital. A+

Comments: I recieved excellent care at CPMC. Whenever I needed a nurse I had someone in my room before I hung up the call button! All of my nurses & doctors were very caring and responsive. I have absolutely NO complaints whatsoever about my experience & would highly recommend this facility.

Comments: Cant say enough great things about my experience. However I did have a roomate that was moaning all night long. Drove me crazy. She was not a WLS patient.

Comments: I am sorry that I am not able to give my experience at CPMC a good rating. I have heard so many wonderful comments about the care on the Bariatric unit. I was, unfortunately, sent to the Telemetry unit after surgery and my experience there was not good. On my readmission for complications, I was sent to the Transplant unit. While the nursing care was better, I was forced to spend my time in a chair in the hallway sue to the insane rambling and demands of my roommate. Hopefully your experience at CPMC will be as good as I have heard it can be. What I can say on a positive note is that the Bariatric Coordinator did contact me after my discharge and followed up on all of my concerns.

Competitors: I work at a hospital. The time that I was there was definitely over nurse-patient ratio or acuity - and I was essentially self-care.
Comments: I had a non-WLS room mate who was loud, disoriented and very needy. Whenever a nurse came into the room to care for me, the room mate NEEDED him/her first - and I felt very neglected. I got myself up the first time, ambulated on my own schedule since I rarely saw a nurse, notified the nurses of my infiltrated IV after my alarms kept going off for hours, discontinued my own IV when the nurses could not get to it.. However, the surgery staff were great, the preop staff were wonderful, the anesthesiologist was great and the surgeon - Dr. Cirangle - fabulous.

How Selected: Dr. Cirangle said he peforms surgeries here for self pay patients.
Competitors: This hospital was the best hospital stay I've ever had.
Comments: The staff and nurses were amazing, very caring and always on top of things. The nurses even sent me a get well card! The only downside is that I ended on the floor below that most WLS are on, and I was in a small private room that was more of a "closet" (as Dr. C. called it..haha). It wasn't bad but I had heard other rooms had a nice view of the city or the bridge. My window view wasn't as gorgeous.

How Selected: The hospital selection was a result of my selection of the particular surgeon performing the procedure.
Competitors: I'm not from San Francisco, so have no idea how CPMC compares to other local hospitals.
Comments: Overall, the experience was excellent. The room was fantastic with a view of the Golden Gate bridge. The unfortunate part of that is I was billed extra for a private room even though I neither requested one, or expected it. All of the nursing staff were great with the exception of a nurse named Janet. I felt she was very condescending and unfriendly. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and chalk that up to her just having a bad night.

Comments: I had the most excellent service from the moment I checked in for surgery. From my admitting nurse,OR Tech and all of my recovery nurses. Every person was incredibly friendly and very helpful. I could not of had my surgery at a better hospital. I had my own room with a great tv/stereo with hard wood floors. It looked more like a hotel room than a hospital room. Even people who were not directly involved in my care were great to talk to while I walked the halls.

Beautiful View, Large spacious Private room with full Bathroom. Television with Cable. Very clean and quiet.
