Overall Value: Excellent Oversized Equipped: Excellent Oversized Sensitive: Excellent
Multi Security: Average Privacy: Excellent Pain Medication: Good
Quiet: Excellent Visiting: Excellent Staff Responsive: Excellent
Parking: Excellent
How Selected: My new Dr. who is Lee Trotter now performs at CTH and completely restructured the Bariatric Program.
Competitors: I have only been to one other hospital and Reno and it in no way compares to Carson Tahoe Hospital
Comments: I must say I don't like spending time in the hospital but this is definately by far the best stay I have ever had. The newly trained and restructured bariatric staff were wonderful. I only had one problem with one nurse but that was due to a language barrier. I am very happy with the care I received and would never doubt going back there again.

Parking: Very Poor
How Selected: My surgeon did all of his RNY procedures there.
Competitors: It is a small hospital but seemed okay at the time
Comments: The hospital cancelled RNY procedures by my surgeon without notice which cancelled surgeries scheduled for the next week for patients who had waited for months for this surgery apparently for a financial motive. The hospital wants to bring in their own "team" of surgeons. Dr. Skogerson is A+ rated and the best surgeon for this procedure in Northern Nevada.

How Selected: My sister was a patient there. They ignored her syptoms and she died.
Competitors: I am a nurse and I can say they just throw you in a room and hope you make it!
Comments: very strange... they don't even have a morgue. My sister was not dead 10 minutes and they were pressuring us to pick a mortuary. And they refused an autopsy, saying we would have to pay for it. My gosh she was only 31! Thankfully one of the docs and the sheriffs department ordered one!

Comments: As of this date, Carson-Tahoe Hospital is not allowing baratric surgery. They said they are just "reviewing" after a death, but Dr. Kent Skogerson is sueing the facility. This is the only facility Dr Skogerson preforms bariatric surgery. This is very typical of Carson-Tahoe Hospital. I was never there as a baratric patient, but had inpatient stays for other conditions.

How Selected: It was surgeon's choice
Competitors: I do not have any other local hospital experience
Comments: All of the nurses and nurses aides except one were excellent. They were caring and considerate. One seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. She was no help and unfortunately she was supposed to help me bathe on my first day after surgery. I am glad I don't have her karma. The food was peculiar and dreadful. The Jello was the only thing that made me throw up so they may have accidentally given me regular instead of diet. All in all, the hospital is a hospital but almost all of the nurses are wonderful.

Comments: The hospital staff from the nurses down to the volunteer staff make the visit as enjoyable as they can considering you just had surgery and are not the most cooperative of patients

Comments: Over all they did a great job! I think they needed more staff and could use some more information on the emotional needs of overweight patients that have just had WLS. I would go there agin if need be.

How Selected: Carson Tahoe is where my surgeon currently operates and also the preferred provider under my new insurance, Humana.
Competitors: I've always had good care at Carson Tahoe.
Comments: The ICU staff was exceptional and extremly attentive. Only problem I had was arranging for the oxygen when going home --- I had to wait 4 hours for my supposed provider to appear and bring oxygen (it was Superbowl Sunday).
