How Selected: My doctor chose it.
Competitors: I've heard it's not that great compared to the others, but it's the only Miami hospital I've stayed in.
Comments: Mostly, I was suprised that the nursing staff was as unaware and unaccomidating. They often did not come in when I called them, we had to chase them down to give me pain meds, and they acted like it was some sign of weakness or inconvience that I needed them. Everyone else was pretty on top of their game, especially the physical therapist who I appreciated very much. The nurses in the recovery room were great as well.

How Selected: Dr. Madan uses this hospital

Comments: Everyone was very nice on the day and early evening shifts...night shif was simply rotten...to few RN's and too many "aids" that couldn't help you. I laid there for two hours with my leg pressure stockings not working and the machine screaming out alarms...the nurse finally came, but I had to remove my monitors to turn that thing off so I would not run screaming into the night...I would recommend having someone stay with you if you can.

Competitors: I wouldn't the lack of concern and care I received thier cannot be compared to the other hospital I know are 100x's better that Cedars.
Comments: Every Nurse that I was in contact was sick and they would easily take an hour to 2 hours to respond to any request. My hospital room was not cleaned the entire time of my stay. My liquid diet meals were left in my room all day so iwould end up with three trays of food for the entire day. Pain medicatiosn were NEVER given to me on time. I had to walk myself out of the hospital because the nurses were too busy to be bothered by me.

How Selected: One of two of my surgeon's hospitals and the closest to my home.
Competitors: Better than some because of the private rooms. A very good hospital. You can feel confident putting yourself in their hands.
Comments: The surgical staff was all excellent. Very reassuring and comforting. I spent one night in the hospital and during the night, housekeeping, (I think?) carried on a very, very LOUD conversation with loud laughter right outside my door. It of course woke me up and kept me up until they left about 20 min. later. How rude!! The nurses did their best with being understaffed. Some did better than others. Overall they took good care of me and I thank them.

How Selected: The doctor does surgery in Mercy Hospital and Cedars Medical Center. The day that my surgery was set for he was doing surgeries in Cedars Medical, so therefore I did not choose the hospital.
Competitors: I would have to say that I was not impressed with the staff after surgery, and I think that the staff post op is just as important as pre op staff. I have been to many hospital and would compare this hospital with a very poor rating.
Comments: The hospital in itself has a very big facility. I believe that with an emergency they can provide the care needed. I was not impressed with the post op staff on the floor. Very poor service.
