Multi Security: Excellent Privacy: Excellent Pain Medication: Excellent
Quiet: Excellent Visiting: Excellent Staff Responsive: Poor
Parking: Good
How Selected: Surgeon's selection
Competitors: Maybe a tad bit better than some of the other local facilities.
Comments: Hospital staff did not wash me or change my gown- I had to have a friend come do that for me. They use a telephone system to call for nurses. I was never given a call button, so I had to look up the nurses number each time I needed something. That was hard especially in the middle of the night.

How Selected: This hospital is where my surgeon operates.
Competitors: Leaps and bounds better than ORMC.
Comments: I would not hesitate to give this hospital all excellents based upon my experience from the time I was wheeled into the OR until the day after surgery. Before and after, I dealt with an insensitive staffer (announcing my status as a bariatric patient in front of an entire waiting room, without every asking my status), a four hour surgery delay; the Day 2 nursing staff was not nearly as responsive and accommodating as the staff I had on Day 1; and the dietary department did not respond to three separate requests for a beverage OTHER than lemonade. Aside from those minor difficulties and inconveniences, the facility is very clean and comfortable, and I would not hesitate to return for another procedure.

How Selected: This was where my surgeon was. There are not a lot of hospitals in the Orlando area that offer WLS.
Competitors: I consider Celebration Health to be one of the best hospitals in the area.
Comments: I found the facilities to be fabulous -- the entrance looks like a hotel lobby, and everything is totally state-of-the-art. The staff was marvelous, as well. I had some serious complications and was there for 6 weeks, and they were wonderful to both me and my family.

Comments: I was so excited to be having my surgery at Celebration Health. However, I was very disappointed with my 4-day stay. Their pneumatic tube system runs right under the bariatric patient rooms on the second floor - kept me up every single night without fail. The room was either too hot or too cold, and they need to put mattress pads on the bed to absorb sweat. We are fat people, we are going to sweat when lying on plastic in an 82 degree room! The TV/internet system was a major joke! Broke the first day I was in my room (Tuesday), and stayed that way until Thursday when a repair man came and spent 3 noisy hours trying to fix the darn thing. Then the company that runs the system charged me for 4 days when I couldn't even watch the lousy thing the whole entire time I was in there. They need old fashioned TV's so you can just lay in bed and gaze at the screen. That moveable thing above your head is really off-putting. I don't have any serious complaints with the nursing staff. Most of my needs were met in a timley manner. Night staff was the best. On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being tops, I would give them a six. To say I was very disappointed would be an understatement.

Competitors: This hospital has private rooms, family can stay with you overnight in your room. It looks beautiful and clean. Food in cafeteria is outstanding. None compares to this hospital!
Comments: Many of the nurses had the surgery and knew just what I was going through. Got visits from the nurtitionalist, the chaplin, I can't remember all the people, but very supportive. I would choose to go there again for any procedure, even though it is 45 to 1 hour away for me!

How Selected: This is the hospital that the surgeon I chose worked from. Luckily, they were also an IN NETWORK hospital on my PPO.
Competitors: Not really aware of others in the area for WLS.
Comments: Unfortunately, I've had more than ten hospital experiences. I would say the overall nursing staff was average in comparison to other experiences although there were two exceptionally wonderful nurses. Beautiful surroundings...looks like a resort.

How Selected: It was selected for me through my primary physician and insurance.
Comments: I heard so many good things about Celebration Health before I got there but when I got there, it wasn't as they said or as I thought it would be. I feel as though the nurses in the Bariatric unit need more training when it comes down to caring for the needs of Bariatric patients. Also, they need to have an ample supply of large blood pressure cuffs so that they don't have to run around looking for one or using regular sized cuffs and getting false readings. I also signed up to be seen by a chaplain and never saw one. I felt very stressed, pressured, and felt no one cared except one person which was the head clinical nurse named Olga. Her bedside manner and concern was great.

Competitors: The hopspital is beautiful! The rooms are all private, that was really nice. Overall great place to be!!
Comments: The only thing I would change is one of the nurses. She does not seem to like her job very much. All patients, but especially bariatric need positive surroundings and support. She did not provide either. The other nurses were great!
