It's no Hoag, but I don't even know if they do bariatric surgery there. One of my nurses was the best I've ever had, but the one who took the shift after her was more into chatting up her co-worker friends than taking care of me. There was a number posted on the wall that I could have dialed to complain, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. Every hospital I've ever been in has left something to be desired, (except Hoag), and this one seemed better than average actually. |

If I had it to do over, I'd probably still go to Chapman Medical Center. It was very clean, and the rooms were well appointed. Some of the nurses and nurses assistants were weak, but I think that's par for the course in a very difficult and underpaid field. If you need to choose a hospital, I'd actually recommend this one, but don't expect a day-spa like experience, because it's not going to happen. |

The only reason they were rated average for pain medication was becasue they seemed so busy with new admissions. It allowed me to breath through the pain until the medication did arrive. The nurse case manager was very helpful and even administered my pain meds when my nurse was not available. |

I was told to check-in at 8 a.m. but didn't get into my room until 9:30 a.m. due to an over booked schedule and understaffing. The clerk at the desk was rude and lacked compassion.
Once in my room things were better, however responses to nurse call buttons at times had me waiting over 45 minutes for assistance, again due to overcrowding and understaffing. I was not pleased with my stay there. I know my bill will be the same whether they give good service or not. Pity. |

| I had to use a center of excellence because of medicare. There were about 5 or 6 to choose from, and felt the most comfortable with this hospital and surgeons. |

They are so zeroed in on the patients needs that you feel like your are the only patlient they are taking care of. I had a few surgeries in different hospitals and have never felt more relaxed and safe as I did at Chapman Medical. |

Very clean and quiet. Admissions was great and even the cafeteria staff. It's a small facility but the really honor their Mission Statement. |

It was not as good as my local hospital (roughly the same size, maybe a little smaller) but it was perfectly nice. |

I was happy with my care, though I always feel like they are always waking me up trying to get my blood pressure. I know it has to be done, but sometimes sleep feels more important after a big procedure like this.
Sometimes the staff took a while to get me unhooked from my IV to use the restroom - I'm chalking that up to lots of patients, though. |

I was not impressed the first time I went in the lobby, it is an older hospital and wasn't very neat and tidy. But....the surgical floors and the staff is incredible. I had a very pleasant experience! |

In comparison to other local hospitals I've been in, it was great, especially with overweight patients. They gave you a gown that actually fits. Overall, my experience at CMC was good. |

I had a great expierence at CMC. I was their three days, two nights. On my second day, they brought a roommate to my room. She was one of the worst things ever. The staff was great in handling it, they did everything they could to make it better for me. They even called my surgeon to get my meds so that I could sleep that night. Luckily I left the next afternoon. All in all, it was great! |

Everything was great except that the aides took too long to get to me. They NEVER changed the urine collection hat in the toilet, I had to do it myself (not easy post-op). An aide came in about 3am the night of the surgery, I told her my mouth was SO dry!! She said "they haven't given you a mouth swab?" I said no thinking she would go bring me one and she never did. This was the worst!! |

It is a very quiet, small and quant facility. They took care of business and I think they weren't as crowded as another hospital would have been. |

The hospital was nice. They took good care of me and made sure i got what I needed. My one complaint was they waited too long before allowing me to get up and walk. Every nurse said another one was coming to assist me. |

The surgery staff was amazing. They were smart and on the ball. I had no reservations on if they really knew their job or not.
I think the staff on the Medical Surgery Floor was sweet and caring. I question their ability to handle any major problems. It just seemed that they weren’t clear headed or thinking. I didn’t have any major problems and the minor problem I did have I complained about 5 times and the charge nurse came in to see if she could help. Joann was amazing!! She was smart, she knew what she was doing, and I had full faith in her.
I did have an incident with a nurse’s aid. I was walking around at about 5am and he had a cup of coffee and held it up to me and laughed and said Starbucks…….. All I need now is a Krispy Kreame donut!!!! I’m not really into starbucks or Krispy Kreame so it didn’t really bother me….. I just found it VERY insensitive. There was also a night nurse that was very lazy!!!!! Oh my goodness was she lazy. She would drop dirty gauze, tape, band-aids, cotton swabs……… you name it and would not pick it up!!! She went to drain my drain and it spilled on the floor, she grabbed a paper towel dropped it on top of the spill and left it there!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW I can be lazy at times but this was just amazing!! It truly floored me!!
I would recommend having a family member spend the first night with you. Just in case you need something, if they drop the ball your family is there to help you and to help push the issues.

Better than some. UCI Medical Center is the worst hospital I have ever encountered! |

I was unhappy with the poor daily maintenance. Blood was often in the sink and toliet seat from the other patient. The bathroom was never cleaned unless I complained to the Floor Supervisor. The ICU staff was incompetent. My visitors had to go looking for them! They need to add more staff to meet the patients needs. |

I found that the hospital itself was a good place...however, the surgical floor nurses were often unattentive could go long periods of time without seeing one even if you called several times....the OR area, reception, lab, admin, and recovery rooms were exceptional...the surgical floor could use a LOT of work!! Just my opinion not anyone elses. |

Well I was very upset the day of my surgery. The intake worker who was supposed to check me in. Took a patient in that came in after me leaving me in the waiting room and My surgery was supposed to be first. I was upset and when I went to find out what was taking so long. The intake worker Luci came out as I turned around to go back and sit with my husband came out and yelled at me saying I wasnt first and I told her I had been there since 4:45 am and that I was told that I was the first patient of the day. and Then she went back to her office and was telling the patient in her office that who did I think I was, That just because i was there first didnt mean I was to get seen first. I was so mad cause we could hear her talking about me to the other patient. I was so upset it made my surgery day horrible.. I was nerviuos and then for her to treat me like that. SO when she finally called me in I told her that I know my patient rights and she had no right to discuss me with the other patient and that I was going to complain., I wont go back to Chapman cause of patient confidentiality, I was devistated, I have worked in hospital settings and clinics and I never once treated anyone like that. |

I am going back into Chapman for my tummy tuck, but only because it will be a short stay and Dr. Oliak is doing the surgery, and I can put up with the Hospital because of my doctor. |

Small, quiet, hospital, with generally good staff. |

I was quite impressed, most everyone went out of there way to be kind, there was one nurse who was not as competent as I would have liked, but no experience is perfect.
I feel qualified to judge competence as I am a nurse myself. Overall, the staff was quite responsive, I am not terribly demanding tho, overall a very good experience. |

So much more respectful and personal. I didn't feel like one of a crowd. I was treated as if I was the most important person there. |

I had excellent care at the hospital. I have only been in one other hospital and I have to say they were both excellent. |

I don't know any of the local hospitals, but I did understand that Chapman was something of a bariatric surgery boutique, in other words they specialize in this surgery and some of the staff such as my post-op recovery nurse have had the surgery themselves. |

I was regularly evaluated by Pt and They even have a board where they give you the portable phone number for your aid and nurse to call them directly. |
