Overall Value: Good Oversized Equipped: Good Oversized Sensitive: Good
Multi Security: Excellent Privacy: Average Pain Medication: Good
Quiet: Average Visiting: Excellent Staff Responsive: Good
Parking: Poor
How Selected: Was not too far from home and a hospital my insurance plan participated in.
Competitors: Been a long time since I've been in a hospital to stay.
Comments: Understaffed a bit at night, but I was kind of a low maintenance patient. I did what was told of me and the staff pretty much just checked on me frequently to see if I had walked around (which they saw me wandering the halls) and asked if I needed anything. Great group of people. After I was discharged, I sent them some roses, candy and a thank you card.

Comments: We two patients that shared a room emptied our own urine containers. We weren't told to call for an aide to do it. Otherwise, excellent care.

How Selected: Insurance told me where I had to go.
Competitors: I have a friend that had surgery at Fresno Heart. I went with her to her pre op and liked it a lot better. Not that clovis was bad but Fresno Heart is all private rooms and very nice.
Comments: I thought that it was pretty good. I spent 4 hours in recovery because they did not have a room ready for me that was the hardest part. But everyone was very nice.

Competitors: I think they were outstanding. I can't really compare them to any others, but I would recommend them.
Comments: the day nurses were fantastic - the best. On my second night there, the night staff was not very attentive to answering the call button, or from me yelling down the hall, or to my 2nd and third requests for help.

Comments: I thought this hospital was going to be great. It has a 5 star rating for its bariatric unit but that must just be for the surgery unit!!The floor that I was on was just as average and under staffed as any other hospital I have been in.

Comments: It was a well oiled machine. From intake to exit, it was very smooth. The room where we waited for surgery was very cold because of a malfunction, but the nurses were very accommodating with warm blankets.

How Selected: Recommendation of a person who grew up in Clovis.
Competitors: Poor - I should have gone to St. Agnes in Fresno, CA.
Comments: As an RN I may be a bit pickier, but here are some of the horrors... 1) Nurse administered IV meds without sterilizing the port first 2) Nurse admininstered IM injection without aspirating for blood and I bled profusely - he was unprepared, so he applied an alcohol swab to the site to try and stem the bleeding, then taped it there (HELLO? Alcohol on open sores HURT! Where's your 2x2?!?) 3) My roommate asked for an emesis basin (to throw up) 3 times before they brought one - too late, on the bed 4) My IV went dry twice and it had to be restarted because they didn't come when I called to notify them to hang a new bag of solution 5) My nasal cannula (for the O2) fell on the floor and they didn't replace it - ANYTHING that falls on that nasty floor should be replaced before being introduced into your body And overall they were VERY unresponsive - I would go hours without seeing someone. It got to the point that I would disconnect all my equipment, go pee, and hook myself back up to everything. Nightmare. DO NOT USE CLOVIS HOSPITAL!!!

How Selected: I didn't select this hospital. I was originally due to have surgery in the Fresno Heart Center, which in MY opinion...is the "Hilton of Hospitals." Private rooms, GREAT staff...etc...etc...My surgery was cancelled and was re-sheduled to Clovis Community. I was very dissapointed in the staff asking me "why I chose to do this." 3 of them telling me I didn't need to do it. I had a HORRIBLE roommate that made my stay MISERABLE!!! I was ready to leave by the next morning!!!
Competitors: Compared to FHC...this is the Motel 6 when it comes to rooms.
Comments: I wish my hospital experience had been better. My room stay was HORRIBLE to say the least. Very Hot, miserable roomie, staff with less than desireable knowledge of my surgery.

How Selected: I work at the other local hospital of the 2 choices I was given. It is very easy to lose confidence and trust in some people that you work with. Maybe that is all I should say about that.
Competitors: I have had surgery performed here before and my experience was very good.
Comments: RN's Abraham and Rebecca in Med-Surg were great! They are what every healthcare worker should strive to be. They went above and beyond what was expected and it was totally genuine.
