Comments: My overall stay at Cooper was wonderful, with the exception of a few NA's and housekeepers everyone was fabulous.

How Selected: Dr Slotman is a surgeon at this hospital.
Competitors: I haven't surgery at any other NJ hospital to compare with.
Comments: I had no problems at this hospital. It was rather busy after my surgery, so it took awhile for me to get a room.

How Selected: Wanted to go to Cooper Hospital because they have a trama center there and thought if anything happened that would be the place to be.
Competitors: Other hospitals in the area I believe are not that equiped and I know of several people who have had bad surgical experiences in them.
Comments: Everyone at Cooper was very good to me except a couple of the day temp nurses who did not get me out of bed when I requested. If it wasn't for this one RN named Sue (God Bless her) who came on at 7pm. I don't know what I would have done. You can bet I'm going to send her something for taking care of me especially since I got my monthly friend right before surgery. It seemed that the other nurses wanted me to fend for myself in the bed and bathroom. I could not really move or take care of my needs too well.

How Selected: Dr. Gus Slotman operates at Cooper. I did not select the hospital.
Competitors: Treatment is professional. You feel comfortable knowing that Cooper has a renowned trauma center. They can handle any complications you might have.
Comments: Many patients fail to consider the nursing staff when choosing a surgeon/hospital for their WLS. The nursing staff can make or break your recovery. I was lucky to be cared for by a young lady named Audrey for her shift of three 12-hour days. Do not underestimate the power of one nurse.

How Selected: My surgeon is associated with Cooper Medical...but it is a very well known and respected hospital in the area.
Competitors: It is a much bigger hospital than any local hospitals in my area. I felt very safe there. Very well known for being able to handle any major problems.
Comments: I felt the staff took execellent around the clock care of me. I had two minor issues...Once with the food they gave me (not the correct diet) and when I left they didn't sign my perscription for the pain med. (That sucked!) It was all taken care of.

How Selected: I chose Cooper because of past experiences there. I searched for a Cooper doctor for my bypass and was happy to learn of Dr. Slotman. I have long felt that Cooper is the best hospital in the southern NJ area.
Competitors: It all came down to a matter of trust, this was the only local hospital that I was comfortable having this major of a procedure at.
Comments: I had an excellent experience at Cooper. My surgery went without a hitch which is the most important thing, but the kind, responsive care that I received from the floor staff made my stay as pleasant as possible.
