How Selected: It was the hospital my surgeon uses, but given the choice, I'd choose Crestwood every time.
Competitors: Over the top. There are a few things offered at Huntsville Hospital that aren't at Crestwood because it's a non-profit, government assisted hospital. For *quality* of care, though, Crestwood will always be my choice.
Comments: The staff at Crestwood, during whatever stay I had, were always kind, caring, and treated me as if they'd known me forever. During my WLS, I was in their "Short Stay" area, and the nurses there were VERY knowledgable about WLS, and treated me like a princess.

How Selected: Hospital is where my surgeon had privilages.
Competitors: Compared with the other hospital in Huntsville, my experiance was much better. The service and care at Crestwood has always been be superior.
Comments: Crestwood went out of their way to insure I was comfortable. My only negative about the hospital was having their admissions department call me 36 hours before the surgery to tell me they needed $6250 up front before the surgery could take place. If not for the grace and mercy of God and some friends, my surgery would have been postpond as I did not have the money readily available. Had the hospital called me a week before, the money would have been available within four days.

How Selected: it was a Center of Excellence and Dr. Facundus practiced at this hospital.
Competitors: I think the hospital is clean and has many qualities. I do believe that patient care could be better and the nurses need to be more professional and not put patients through undue stress. I have had better stays in the hospital. I felt neglected at times and when I had to go to the bathroom... there were many times when I unhooked myself from the equipment and had to take myself to the restroom and wait for someone to hook me back up.
Comments: I will say that the the nurse that was on the night shift was absolutely fabulous. She helped me with every need. The reason that I have it poor and horrible in responsive staff and restfully quiet experience respectfully is because of the bad experience I had prior to the night shift nurse. There was an RN and a patient care technician taking care of me. The patient care technician bad mouthed the RN and kept messing with my IV fluids and air was getting in the lines. The patient care technician made me nervous taking me off my antibiotics before they were completed and everytime she touched my IV ..the signals would go off. I requested that my RN come in to check my IV and the patient care technician came in and was really mean to me. She said that she would not be back in my room since I thought she did not know what she was doing. The bad thing is that I was just hours out of surgery and had to deal with this drama. The head nurse came in and was saying that she was hearing conflicting stories. It was a lot of stress and I was trying to recover. There was friction with the staff and I had trouble getting help from the nursing staff until the night shift came on duty. There was one night nurse and she was wonderful and I felt really comfortable. I wished I would have went to see administration the next day, but I was discharged so quickly it was time to go home and I was tired.

Competitors: I felt it was very comparable.
Comments: This was my first stay at Crestwood. I have been in Huntsville many times. The care providers were very nice, caring people and even when they woke you up for blood work or something they apologized. I would never look at a hospital stay as "nice", but if you have to have one, Crestwood is a good choice.

How Selected: Crestwood is where Dr. Foreman works from. However, I really have had nothing but great service from Crestwood in the past regarding test etc.
Competitors: I would NEVER have surgery at Huntsville Hospital. I have heard complete horror stories from the hospital staff as well as WLS Doctors. Also the appearance of Huntsville Hospital is always filthy and you can see things dirty everywhere. Also the smell isnt too pleasant there either. And the parking garage is a hassle most of the time. I could go on and on............Just use Crestwood :)
Comments: Crestwood is a very clean hospital. The staff is very friendly, yet very professional. I can honestly say from the admitting office area to the next day I went home ......I was COMPLETELY satisfied with the service. The nurses are amazing there and you can actually tell they care about you and what they are doing.

How Selected: Surgeons choice
Competitors: I would rather go to Huntsville Hospital anyday than to ever spend one hour at Crestwood again.
Comments: My pre-op and registration process was more than wonderful and would have rated this hospital highly but the post care was horrific. Words can not express my fear for anyone staying at this hospital without family members being present. In my heart I feel as though I would have died if I closed my eyes. I was denied medication and use of the bathroom for 9 hours. I was stuck with the same dirty needle and alcohol swab 6 times. My leg pumps to prevent blood clots were either left off constantly or refused to be turned on. I was told that I had a heart attack and I called my sister to come at 3am. She said I collasped on the bed when I saw her because I had just told the nurse that I would not close my eyes until the shift changed and I meant that. This hospital needs to take a serious look at developing a gastric bypass "floor" because I was stuck on the orthepedic floor and they said I was too much trouble for them. So my overall rating of this hospital is if I am going to die let me die at home and not with a stuck up nurse that thinks it is more important to do charts than to administer care to a patient that has undergone major surgery. Ollie Green ~ very pissed but glad to be alive to tell the story

How Selected: Crestwood is the hospital Dr. Facundus uses, and it's very convenient for me.
Competitors: I very much prefer Crestwood to Huntsville Hospital as it is so much easier to use: smaller and less confusing. I found the staff to be very happy and upbeat, consistently. It was a noticeable difference in attitude and I asked a nurse why everyone seems so happy. She told me it's because they have a lighter workload, and less stress, and are content with their employment.
Comments: My impression of Crestwood, its staff and efficiency and convenience, is all completely positive. I could not have asked for a better experience. I would highly recomment this hospital.

Comments: Crestwwod is top of the line. Between the many tests, outpatient services, and this last surgery, I can't begin to tell you how much both my husband and I really like Crestwood. Anytime we visit someone in the hospital, the first thing we do upon entering, is start comparing it to CMC. Crestwood sets the bar on which all others should be measured.
