Comments: This hospital was fantastic! From their pre-op treatment and attention, to the day I left. The nurses were gentle, caring and not overbearing. Whenever I had a problem they were there to resolve it without giving excuses. Parking was incredible, since they provide FREE valet parking at the main entrance. My 6 year old child was allowed to come into my room daily so I could help him with his homework. The nurses were so nice they would sometimes offer him juice or jello! If I'm ever in need of a hospital again, I hope I will be able to choose Health South Doctor's Hospital.

How Selected: insurance will only cover my Dr in this hospital

Comments: Nurses were not train to handle bariatric patients especially with the food. Will served me a regular full liquid diet with sugar, reg. milk and coffee. Also floor staff will never answer call light and at times will come in the room at the begining of shift and not show up the rest of shift not even to empty the drainage tube.

How Selected: This happened to be the hospital my doc preferred.
Competitors: Don't know of any other hospitals in the area since I live 5 hours away.
Comments: The care was certainly adequate. They are very familiar with band surgery, which certainly helped. But the hospital itself is a little old, I think. The room I was in had a bathroom that wasn't in the best of shape. The shower didn't look clean. I waited until I got out to take a shower at the hotel rather than use theirs.
