It was just a bad time....2 days before Christmas. There was a staff shortage and additionaly, there was construction work going on inside and out and it was horribly loud!!! |

The staff of this hospital was amazing. They were very compasionate, and more than willing to go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. The nurses were a pleasure to have. I left there knowing that when I have my next surgery I will definetly find a doctor associated with this hospital. |

I actually work at the other hospital in town and love it. I was not too happy about having surgery at ETMC, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
My only complaint is the parking situation, but it's really minor gripe since they provide transportation from their remote parking lot. |

| My surgeon does procedures at two hospitals. I had mine at ETMC based on the day that my surgery was scheduled on. |

I am not familiar with other hospitals in Tyler, but it was awesome compared to my hometown hospital. |

Everyone was great! From the moment I checked in until I checked out they were great. I liked the fact that they had a bariatric wing and everyone working on it was familiar with what I was going through. I wouldn't hesitate to use this hospital again. |

I had to beg numerous times and wait at least an hour past time for pain medicine-. No body ever ask me what my level of pain was. My family had to go find a nurse each time very frustrated. They also didnt realize until a few hours before i left that they where supposed ot be monitoring my output and had not started the breathing excercising. I am an RN and it was terrible. All the nurses had "pediatric" badges on. in the OR waiting to go back the nurses where all complaining abut how tired they were and wanted to not be there. a Dr was telling vulgar jokes right out side my curtain. |

I was not impressed with the Nurses and there Attidudes. They made me feel I was bothering them. The day I was getting out my dressing from my drainage tube had leaked all over the front of my shirt and I ask the Nurse to change it and told her the Dr. said for them to show me how to change it and she refussed and gave me some gauze that was laying there and told me to change it when I got home. My bed sheets were always dirty from the drainage and there was just one time when a Nurse said they needed to change them. |

The hospital was great. I have other issues w/ pain (because I also need back surgery) so the Morphine PCA didn't do much for my relief. My blood pressure went up but when I finally was given a different type of pain medicine everything went back to normal. The staff was great and very helpful. Other than the pain issues I had a good stay. |

Hospital was very accomodating in letting the person who was with me stay with me in the room. The rooms were very roomy and comfortable, the beds though are the worse. |

| It is the hospital in my network and one in which my surgeon is able to operate. |

I went to UTHC twice with complications after surgery and they knew NOTHING about WLS patients. I had to educate them about my procedure, etc. It was NOT a good experience. I had to stay overnight and they brought me a regular meal even. |

I like that they now have a bariatric floor, and a bariatric director, so they cater to our needs very well. This was not so in the past, but they have changed as the need became evident in our city. |

Prior to surgery I had read some reviews on ETMC and frankly, I was apprehensive about having my surgery there. I think that as with any other situation in life, you get what you give. I was pleasant to the staff and helped them to help me. I had a positive and encouraging experience. |

ETMC bariatric staff were great! Very attentive and helpful. Radiology dept. needs improvement when dealing with gastric bypass patients. But I would go there again. |

I MIGHT stay there again if I HAD to, but I would stress my want of a private room. I repeat stress. |

The nursing staff was good I would say. One nurse inparticular seemed somewhere else alot of the time. I understand they are busy, but I was also there patient. I was not giving a private room, I was told all rooms were full and was put on the pediatric floor in a room with an older woman that couldnt get up to go to the bathroom. So with the potty chair and the messes she made in her bed, the room really smelled BAD ! It was not a pleasant experience after just having WLS. I was very glad to get to go home. The room didnt seemed to be very clean, floors dirty etc. In the 3 days I was there, I dont remember house keeping coming in once. |

I still say that the sleep I got while recovering from surgery was the best I've ever had. The staff was nice and was attentive. I ended up having a room to myself (although it was a double occupancy room), which was nice...not sure how common that is. |

I was admitted to ETMC for surgery Friday, Jan. 28th and discharged Sunday, Jan. 30th. During my stay, Julie was my day nurse and Stephanie was with me at night. It became quickly clear that both young women were extremely well trained in their skill. They offered suggestions and gave me instructions they knew would help me be safe and comfortable. Every single need I had was met with speed, attention to detail, and compassion. They were everything and more I had expected and hoped for. God bless you Julie and Stephanie. --Mrs. Pittman |

The hospital itself was fine. The problem was with the nursing staff. If my husband had not been with me at all times to take care of me, I dont know what I would have done. The staff was not attentive at all. |

The night staff, Becky was my nurse at night, was wonderfull! She had delt with wls patients before and new exactly what I needed to do. I'd found out that the nurses in the moring shift were filling in and thus didn't have as much knowledge as Becky. However they were all still very accommodating. |

This was a great hospital overall. I especially appreciated the empathy of the staff and the way they shared information as it was available with my family. Dr. Babineau is one top rated doctor in my book, so it is no wonder he uses this hospital. |

| This is where my Dr. did his surgeries. I wish I could have used Mother Francis though because it was in network with my insurance and ETMC was out of network. |

I was impressed with how the hospital treated my husband and daughter during my surgery by giving them updates every 15 to 20 minutes. Most hospitals wait until the surgery is over to talk with family which only increases a families fears. This was soothing for them to hear how things was going. |

When I arrived to the floor I was in a great deal of pain. The nurse had several other patients. (I was put on the Pediatric Wing) For over 2 hours I screamed in pain then my sister noticed that the Morphine was not hooked up to me, it was going on the floor. Needless to say, my pain was not controlled the entire time I was in the hospital except the night before discharge I was give Lortab 10/650 (2). The nurses seemed to be afraid to call the doctor. They all said, "he won't change anything". I had to beg them to call the doctor. As you can see, my experience was not a good one. Also I was in the hospital for 7 days and had 4 different rooms. First they put me in a room by myself, then they "needed" my room so they put me in with a teenage girl. My family requested a private room, so I was moved that time at our request. Then the night before discharge they moved me again so a "pediatric" patient could have my room.
Now I want to add: On December 7th I had to go to the Digestive Disease Center at ETMC to have my stoma dilated and it was like a whole different hospital. ALL of the staff in the DDC were wonderful. Dr. Gary Boyd was teh BEST GI doc I have ever met. He truly cares about his patients. He not only dilated my stoma, but it appears that the dilatation put enough pressure that it fixed a leak that I had in my pouch. I am thrilled with ALL of the people in this department. If there was an award I could give them..I certainly would. They ALL helped each other and I never heard a single negative word even though I was right beside the nurse's desk. I would recommend Dr. Boyd and the DIgestive Disease Center to anyone. THanks so much!!! |
