How Selected: My doctor practices out of Elmbrook.
Competitors: I've been to several other local hospitals but only as a visitor...my Mom is a cardiac patient frequently. I like Elmbrook because it is smaller and much calmer than some of the biggies in Milwaukee.
Comments: I had been to Elmbrook for the births of my 2 nephews and niece and had always been impressed. I was excited to know that this is where my surgery would take place. It's a quiet, modern hospital in a quiet area and everyone there is super nice. The staff was really supportive and I even encountered people in the pre-surgery area who are either having or have had bariatric surgery. They all really did a terrific job putting me at ease...especially being a newbie to surgery...a virgin body they called it. AND I can't say enough about how well they did explaining what was happening and making sure that I was OK with what was going on especially the anesthesiologist...he was fantastic.

How Selected: My surgeon works out of Elmbrook.
Competitors: I have never been a patient before.
Comments: The nursing staff was not what I expected. I work for the healthcare system that Elmbrook belongs to. I was not happy with the care or concern of most of the nurses. I was in the hospital a week, and with the exception of the ICU, there were 3 nurses that I actualy feel enjoyed there jobs and cared about me as a patient. The sad thing is, one admited me on the floor and I had her for a few hours and another dischargered me and didn't have much to do with my care. And they were the best. Only one nurse that took "care" of me seemed pleaseant and competent. I had a talk with the manager of the floor. I hope this helps future patients. Elmbrook has a better reputation. I expected more.
