Overall Value: Good Oversized Equipped: Excellent Oversized Sensitive: Excellent
Multi Security: Excellent Privacy: Good Pain Medication: Excellent
Quiet: Average Visiting: Good Staff Responsive: Good
Parking: Good
How Selected: I chose Emerson over MGH because I liked the weight loss center staff better. I found them to be very warm.
Comments: My room was directly behind the nurses' station and extremely noisy. Stage I really sucked at this hospital. I was given two cups of broth at each meal. The menu stated chicken or beef. You could not tell the difference by taste. They had to be boullion cubes. I asked the nurse if I could use my herbal lemon tea bag instead of the "caffeinated" tea bag they sent. She said that I was not allowed to have anything other than what was on the tray. I mentioned the awful broth to my doctor. She said I could have had my homemade broth brought in.

How Selected: This was the 3rd hospital I tried due to cirmcumstances beyond my control. I had to opt out of the other two on my own for personal reasons
Competitors: Ease of parking, but, you have to pay to park...most you do not have to pay.
Comments: They are an excellant hospital and the staff are great, very nice even in radiology and the labs, every single department I had to deal with pre-surgery, were great and caring.

How Selected: I selected Dr. Jiser, first, then chose Emerson because it was closer than Saints Memorial, in Lowell.
Competitors: I think Emerson would compare quite favorably to the other local hospitals. They are very well staffed, with a 6:1 patient:nurse ratio, which allows for excellent nursing care. The facility is new, as well. I was extremely pleased with my WLS experience at Emerson.
Comments: The nursing staff is particularly good, I found.

How Selected: After going to Umass for almost a year a friend of mine told me about Emerson and I checked them out and I loved the place.
Competitors: I think it is a lot better than umass in worcester. They are more caring and sensitive. And they do not give you the run around about appointments.
Comments: I loved this hospital. Very nice and funny staff. Would go back to this hospital for other things.
