About this Hospital

The Atlanta Bariatric Center, exclusively at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, is a premiere weight loss surgery center just north of Atlanta in the state's newest city, Johns Creek.

Unparalled attention to our patient's comfort and dignity combined with our steadfast commitment to clinical excellence have made us the center of choice for many patients in the southeastern United States.

We are experts in the field of weight-loss surgery, having performed over 2000 successful laparoscopic procedures with complication rates well below the national average. The National Institutes of Health recommends that bariatric surgery be performed only at facilities with a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive program. Our center is such a facility and offers the following services at an all-inclusive price:

· Surgical options including laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, Lap-Band, malabsorptive and revisional procedures
· Registered Dieticians for nutritional counseling
· Psychologists for ongoing aftercare and counseling services
· Weight loss seminars and support groups.
· Exercise programs
· Financial counseling and insurance pre-certification

Skill and Experience You Can Trust
The Atlanta Bariatric Center, only at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, is devoted exclusively to the needs of those suffering from morbid obesity. Atlanta Bariatric Center is a premiere center for Bariatric surgery in the nation, and our knowledge and expertise are raising the level of quality care and setting a new standard of excellence.

The Center's skilled surgeons are highly qualified specialists experienced in the surgical methods approved for treatment. In addition to extensive training, they receive continuing education in the area of Bariatric surgery. Because their primary focus is morbid obesity, you can be sure that our doctors meet the absolute highest standards of skill level.

Our nurses have received specialized educational training based on rigid criteria established by the American Bariatric Society. They understand how to address the special medical and emotional care needs of morbid obesity patients.

Quality Care Before, During and After
Providing the absolute highest quality care at every step is the primary concern and focus of the Atlanta Bariatric Center treatment program. Designed as a dedicated Bariatric unit, the Center features specialized medical equipment, custom beds and special furniture to meet the needs of our patients. The dedicated Bariatric floor includes a comfortable community room where patients and family members can spend time together. The hospital even provides comfortable bathrobes and oversized gowns for patients.

This special attention doesn't end with your hospital stay. The Center's aftercare plan is among the nation's best. Aftercare activities include exercise classes, support groups, ongoing nutrition counseling, and a continuing education and lecture series.

Comments: The staff and the hospital were wonderful. My nurses were great, I felt like I was being taken care of by friends! The hospital is new and you can see that the layout of the rooms was carefully thought out . There is banquet seating and a nice comfy chair. My mom stayed overnight with me, slept on the banquet seating and said that she was very comfortable. The nurses brought my mom blankets and pillows. My family ate there and said the food was wonderful. My entire experience there was wonderful, I can't think of enough good things to say about them!

They are knowledgeable about the bariatrics process and they have specified bariatric on the floor for bariatric patients. Comments: Everything was great a this hospital. Nice staff, friendly, amd wonderful to deal with. Everything was fine with my experience except when I had to go to Radilogy and was taken by wheelchair the day after my surgery from my room to radiology. I had two separate visits to Radiology and both times was told the first time to put my feet up on the stand that holds my IV and to hold it while they navigated me in a wheelchair. THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE. While entering and exiting the elevators the IV stand tipped and caused severe pain in my right side. The staff needs to not ask patients to hold IV Stands while being moved via wheelchair after surgery. IF asked DO NOT DO IT! Make them do it this is very dangerous and caused excess strain and a very slow recovery for me.

Competitors: This hospital is particularly well recognized because of it's association with Emory University. Emory is a very good medical school and boasts well of the hospitals reputation. You just feel good going to a hospital with a fabulous track record.
Comments: I was surprised at the level of excellence achieved by this hospital. Especially the way it strives to give you a luxurious home away from home instead of a sterile, cold sick room. The floors were wood and carpeted, the rooms were warm instead of sparse. They even had a towel warmer in the bathroom where I took my first post-op shower. I recommend this hospital whole heartedly for a restful recovery.

Comments: I so appreciate the care and comfort afforded me at this facility and would give it a "10" on a scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being the highest score given.)
