How Selected: I chose Emory because it is a university hospital with some of the best Doctors around. I chose Dr. Smith because he is the head of Bariatrics at Emory.
Competitors: I thought they are superior to most hospitals around.
Comments: I think a couple of the nurses could have been a little more friendly and sensitive. The techs, residents, and interns were excellent and caring, especially Dr Beau.

How Selected: I had used this hospital a couple of years ago to have my gall bladder removed and i thought it was a great hospital! My mistake this time around. I was in the hospital for 8 days and not once did anyone ever clean my room. The bathroom toilet reaped of urine. The bathroom was filled with dirty gowns and bandages piled up. I hope to god i never have to ever go back to this hospital again. They seem to be seriously UNDERSTAFFED! Most of the nurses had no personality and were strictly business. BEWARE OF THIS HOSPITAL!!!!!!
Comments: UNDER STAFFED; NO WARMTH; VERY COLD NON CARING PLACE TO STAY. NEVER USE THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU CAN HELP IT!

How Selected: I ENTERED THE HOSPITAL 4 DAYS AFTER MY BYPASS UNABLED TO BREATH. I HAD GOTTEN BACTRIAL PNEUMONIA. I HAD TO BE PUT ON A VENILATOR FOR 8 DAYS. THE STAFF HAD BEEN WONDERFUL. ON THE 8TH DAY THEY STARTED TURNING DOWN THE VENTILATOR AND I DID BREATH ON MY OWN. SO I WAS TAKEN OFF THE VENT BUT STILL STAYED ON THE 5TH FLOOR ICU UNIT. I WAS FULLY AWAKE AND I FELT A LOT OF PRESSURE AROUND MY CATHETOR,CALLED A NURSE AND SHE SAID IT WAS JUST PRESSURE. I TOLD HER NO, SOMETHING WAS WRONG THAT I ABOUT TO WET THE BED. SHE CALLED ME A LIAR. (HER NAME WAS CAROL) I TOLD HER OH YEA, WELL I JUST WET YOUR BED. I STARTED HAVING BLADDER SPASMS AND ASK FOR SOME HELP. THEY WOULD NOT COME. I YELLED, PUSHED THE NURSE BUTTON AND STILL NO HELP CAME. I SCREAMED I'M DYING IN HERE AND ONE OF THEM SCREAMED BACK, GO AHEAD AND DIE THEN! (HER NAME WAS NIKKI I BELIEVE) FINALLY A NURSE TANJONE, SPELLING IS PROBABLY NOT CORRECT, BUT HE WAS A BLACK, BALD NURSE. HE CAME IN AND WAS THE ONLY ONE TO COMFORT MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS BY MY BESIDE FOR 2 STRAIGHT WEEKS. HE TOLD HER THAT HE HAD SEEN A LOT WORSE COME IN HERE AND THEY WALKED OUT! THIS SMALL STATEMENT CAME FROM AN ANGEL! HE TRIED TO FLUSH THE CATHETOR THAT WAS STILL HURTING BADLY AND IT WOULD NOT FLUSH. HE SAID THAT'S THE PROBLEM, LET ME GET 2 LADY NURSES TO COME AND REDO IT, WHICH HE DID AND AFTER THAT I HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH MY BLADDER. I FILLED THE TANK IN 15 MIN. BESIDES THIS ONE WONDERFUL NURSE THE WHOLE 5TH FLOOR ICU EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIFIC! MY MOTHER STARTED CALLING IT THE DYING FLOOR BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE DID DIE DURING MY STAY THERE. I WONDER, COULD IT HAVE BEEN THE CARE THAT THEY WERE RECEIVING? I HAD TO BE GIVEN 2 PINTS OF BLOOD, AND A MEDICATION THAT IS ONLY USED FOR PEOPLE ON THEIR DEATH BED, IT WAS CALLED XIGRES. AFTER 96 HOURS I STARTED IMPROVING AND RAPIDLY IMPROVED AFTER THAT. THE EMERGENCY, AND ALL OTHER THINGS BESIDES THE 5TH FLOOR ICU WAS MOST WONDERFUL. THEY SAVED MY LIFE, THROUGH THE HELP OF MY LORD AND SAVIOR. I HAD MILLIONS OF PRAYERS GOING UP TO HIM DURING THIS WHOLE ORDEAL.
Competitors: PRETTY GOOD! STAY AWAY FROM THE 5TH FLOOR ICU! YOU MAY DIE THERE!
Comments: BESIDES THIS ONE FLOOR EVERYTHING WAS DONE VERY PROFESSIONALY AND I HAD THE BEST OF CARE, ESPECIALLY IN THE ER! THEY SAW RIGHT AWAY THAT I WAS IN A CRITICAL WAY AND I HAD IVS IN BOTH ARMS AND A CAT SCAN OF MY LUNGS WITHIN 10 MIN FROM ENTERING THE HOSPITAL. AND 5 MINS LATTER WAS TOLD THAT I WAS TAKING IN ONLY 50% OF OXYGEN AND IF THEY DID NOT VENTILATE ME I WOULD DIE. THEY DIDN'T DO THIS TO SCARE ME BUT BECAUSE THEY WERE RUNNING OUT OF TIME TO SAVE ME! PRIASE GOD FOR DOCTORS LIKE THEM THAT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO SAVING LIVES, THEY GO IN AND DO IT!
