Very little other experience. |
| Comments: |
The staff spent a lot of time telling me what was going to happen and how it all worked. They were attentive and friendly. Other than that, I was only there for five hours, and a lot of that I was out. No other real opinions. |

I hadn't had any experience with Evergeen, but have many friends who have delivered babies there. Many of them chose to drive to Evergreen's maternity ward because of their amazing reputation.
My BIGGEST shock was the support I felt in getting ready for WLS and the amount of laughing and joking I was able to do with a lot of the staff. I use sarcasm to deal with nerves and my pre-surgical/admitting team that I "visited" with was amazing and the experience was fun. Yes, fun. They were some of the nicest people I have ever met at a hospital and incredibly positive about the surgery and positive about my surgeon. What a calming experience and one that made going into surgery the following week much easier.
The actual surgical team, staff at the O.R. and recovery room was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. |

| After attending two other informational seminars at different hospitals, I attended the one at Evergreen. I was so comfortable there and the information they provided was just what I needed. More importantly I felt that they cared more about me and not just concerned with whether or not I was could afford to pay for it. |

Clearly above other hospitals in the area. They have made sure that the private rooms you spend the night in are equipped for those of us that are big, from the bathroom, furniture, etc. |
| Comments: |
Parking is free. Staff have been specially trained to take care of obese patients. They also have a designated area of private rooms just for their bariatric patients. They are more than happy to have the patient have visitors. There is even a window daybed for a patients family member should they decide to spend the night. |

I have stayed at three other hospitals and hands down Evergreen ran like a fined tuned machine. There was no disjointed staff. In other hospitals I have to say I have been left abandoned, neglected and I never felt that. |

My only problems with this hospital were that they would not let me out of bed until the second day after surgery and during the night-shift they're weren't very responsive to the call button. I also had a problem with the meds they were giving me, if my mom hadn't been there I would have gotten three blood-thinners in a twelve hour period instead of one. It seemed as though no one had noted I'd already received the prescribed dosage. |

This hospital is the absolute worst hospital I have ever experienced. They gave me the okay for my Medicare insurance on the 11th of July (my first surgery date) and then on the 17th I find out their rethinking how to deal with Medicare. My operation is scheduled for the 22nd of July and today (the 21st of July) I find they are still rethinking Medicare. A pretty slick way of saying they won't accept Medicare. My therapist says she thinks it's illegal. I'm contacting an attorney my husband has dealt with tommorrow. |

Very favorable. Very nice facilities. |
| Comments: |
The only thing about the surgery that was a little odd was the hospital didn't seem exactly on track with Dr. Montgomery's instructions. He stresses walking right away, which he had told me ahead of time. Well, the evening of the surgery I tried to get up but I needed help because of all the stuff I was plugged into- IV, catheter, and both legs wrapped with inflatable compression cuffs plugged into air compressor. So I start to get up, and got a bit nauseaous, and they put me right back to bed & gave me anti-naueseua medicine. Then in the a.m. I tried to get up again but the orderly told me to wait until after shift change. I really couldn't do it on my own, I was literally tied to the bed with all the accessories. Then Dr. Montgomery came in and I got the impression he was upset I wasn't up and about- as soon as he left I got a dose of blood thinners and they helped me out of bed. I just got the impression the hospital staff weren't quite clear on the expectations for this surgery. Someone even asked me if I was going to be getting pureed foods, and I was like no way!
I also remember one time my IV sprug a leak, it was dripping steadily & I had pressed the call button for the nurse but it took a while for someone to come around, at least ten minutes but I'm thinking it was more like 20. That concerned me a little because I didn't know if it was a safety problem. However the staff seemed really on top of giving me meds, I've never had so many shots in my life, literally.
But other than that the hospital stay was fine, the folks were very nice. I had packed a bunch of stuff to do, like magazines and knitting but I didn't touch any of it, I think I felt a little out of it from the morphine. Music would have been nice. Also, I wish I had gotten my take home pain medicine either ahead of time or filled at the hospital, it was a drag having to do it on the way home.
