How Selected: Insurance approved.
Competitors: Better than any other hospital I have visited in the last 15 years.
Comments: Like any other business right now, they were short-handed. I was taken to pre-op alone, then so many patients had to be prepped with too few nurses, that suddenly it was time to go and my husband had only JUST been brought in. I felt high anxiety that I got very little time with him at the last. If I had NOT made it, it would have been devastating for him to not have had that time. Fortunately, here I am. He should have been brought back to me MUCH sooner. There was nothing they had to do to me that he could not have been there for.

Comments: This hospital was beyond beautiful. My room had a beautiful view of the park and sunset. The rooms were private and quiet and confortable. They even have a pull-out bed to accomodate an overnight guest. The staff was awsome, and always there to help when needed. I do not have a single negative thing to say about my experience at Fresno Heart Hospital.

How Selected: Dr. Boone uses 3 hospitals in Fresno. I left it to the staff to schedule surgery at Dr. Boone's preference.
Competitors: Excellent facility. Have no knowledge of other hospitals in the area.
Comments: Everything was a positive experience, from the pre-op visit where blood was drawn, x-rays, EKG, etc. The pre-op nurse was very informative and gave me a sheet with all the basics in writing. Day of surgery was great too. Most of the staff I talked with have worked at Fresno Heart since it opened approx 4 years ago. I think that says a lot about a facility. Everything about my stay was great! I would highly recommend it.

Comments: I had only ONE bad experience with a shift nurse. She had a very thick accent and was hard to understand. She told me she had unhooked my PCA but she actually didn't because I am on morphine for chronic pain. She took away the button and hung it on the IV where I couldn't reach it. Finally after complaining for 4 hours she told my husband that I was still hooked up to the morphine and she pushed the button a few times and sent me to La-La land. I also brought my own drugs with me to the hospital which took FOREVER to be counted and tagged. I should have just not said anything and taken them myself. The hospital itself is an amazing facility. Everyone has their own, very large private room with a flat screen TV. There are plenty of chairs for visitors and even a pull out type chair if someone wanted to spend the night with me. Everyone that worked there was very professional and helpful, except for the above mentioned nurse.

How Selected: Chose it out of the 3 hospitals my surgeon uses. It was the only one with all private rooms.
Competitors: One of the best.
Comments: The beds were on the small side. Don't know if this is because I am sort of a light-weight or what. Quite a few bariatric patients on my floor. Not too bad.
