I owe them my life - they were great - in pre-op the nurse didn't make it clear to wait until she closed the curtain before I stripped, so there I was standing in a room full of people buck naked, laughed my ass off! |

The hosptal is bricks and mortar, but the staff was excellent. My first night nurse, Marie, had WLS six years ago. She was so helpful and absolutely wonderful. We even traded email addresses. The 6th floor had several WLS patients and during my walks I met some of them. |

I HAD TO STAY LONGER THAN MOST BECAUSE OF COMPLICATIONS.. SO I WAS IN 7 DAYS AND THE ROOM I WAS IN WAS UNCOMFORTABLE--THE CLIMATE CONTROL WAS HORRIBLE AND IT TRIGGERED MY SINUSES AND ALLERGIES.. SO I WAS HAPPY TO GO HOME--I COMPLAINED EVERY DAY AND THEY KEPT TELLING ME THAT ALL THE ROOMS WERE LIKE THAT--NOT SURE IF I BELIEVED THEM--MY NOSE CONSTANTLY RAN....NO FUN ON TOP OF ALL THE PAIN I HAD |

The staff was great!! They were so accomadating and very friendly and encouraging to me. When I'd be making my strolls, most of them would take the time to give me a smile and/or mention how well I was doing. |

| Several other people chose the Geisinger program for their surgery with excellent results. At the time of my surgery, I was told that they were classed as #4 in the nation. Making it a good program for me to choose. |

| I was introducted to Geisinger Danville four years ago when I found out I needed a radical hysterectomy. Everything went well and everyone was wonderful. When I decided I wanted WLS, my PCP insisted I go to Geisinger. Their program is far better than any local one I found and they genuinely care and prepare you. |

I am fairly new to the area so I cannot fairly compare it to other local hospitals. |

Some people have had excellent experiences with their stay at this hospital. I didn't. The nurses didn't really seem to know anything about the surgery I had or about the care I needed following surgery and for my trip home after discharge. Although my surgery went wonderfully, I cannot highly recommend the nursing care. Maybe I was just there on a bad weekend. |

I found that Geisinger was well staffed. They always found time to check on my and went out of their way to make me comfortable. |

One of the things that really impressed me was the fact that all the specialists who visited my roommate took time to stop and visit with me -- comments such as "your color is better today," "You're out of bed, that's great!", and "How's your day been so far", helped make my recovery a much more pleasant experience. They weren't just passing comments, they were actual conversation starters and the specialists were interested in my response. And they weren't even my doctors! (And no, there was no "consult fee" listed on my bill!!!)
The nursing staff was terrific! I was much more than just a slab of meat in a bed. They took time with me, encouraged me, and told me how much they admired me for taking this drastic step. What a cheerleading squad! |
