How Selected: Through your website. It may seem that I am giving this hospital a false sense of character that possibly something was not to par... But this hospital was so good to me when I had my surgery I chose to have my baby there and this particular hospital is almost 40 minutes from my home.
Competitors: I will say that they are very caring to you as a person and a patient. I say person because anyone can do a job but it takes a heart to be a person.
Comments: I still go to this hospital whenever I need something done. Tests, bloodwork etc... I do not think that will ever change considering it is hard to find half caring medical care. When you actually find wonderful medical care you don't walk away from that.

How Selected: Gesinger is a very reputable hospital
Competitors: There is NO comparisson! Geisinger was outstanding in EVERY SINGLE WAY! to compare Geisinger to the Local Hospitals is a insult. After being in Geisinger Wyoming Valley I will never go to another hospital again!
Comments: I went through the program letter sent to insurance co.(geisinger ins.) and I was approved in 1 day. They do not play office politics with there patients! The staff EVERY single one, pleasant do anything for you! I said to the nurse it is a little warm in here,10 min.later maintance in to adjust the air! They care! all Bariatric Patients are givin a private room, with oversized everything! I was able to make and take calls 24hrs a day I could have had somebody stay with me (family)24 hrs a day. The hospital is VERY clean and smells fresh not that "hospital smell". I would recomend anyone that is having this surgery to come to Gesinger! they will not regret one minute of it! Dr.Gruneiro is an absolutly outstanding Bariatric surgeon!

How Selected: They perform the Lap Band procedure, which was my first choice.
Competitors: Excellent program before you ever meet with the surgeon.
Comments: I never planned on a gastric bypass, I was too afraid of dying. The program and employees are fantastic. About four months into the program I decided to have the bypass and not the band. It was a difficult choice but I am confident and comfortable with the team at Geisinger. Post-Op comment: Everyone was so nice but I have to say they are understaffed in my opinion. There were 6 nurses to approx. 28 patients

How Selected: Dr. Alex Gruneiro was recommended highly for laparoscopic surgery and I could get an earlier surgery date here.
Competitors: I had lots and lots of tests and consults with specialists before my surgery. Everyone I came into contact with was wonderful and friendly. I was always premedicated where necessary, and had no discomfort ever.
Comments: While WVMC is two hours from my home, it was well worth the drive. I am completely satisfied with my care.

How Selected: This was the closest hospital to my home and I knew several people that had this procedure done there.
Competitors: I feel this is the best hospital in my area and it's the only one I go to for all of my care.
Comments: Geisinger has done so many things to teach the staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in how to render care to a bariatric patient. The nurses and staff were great and my surgeon was fabulous. It was a very clean hospital and I would highly recommend.
