Comments: The hospital was very clean. But as is the case these days, understaffed. The ICU staff was very accomadating and attentive. I think all rooms are private? I was checked on regularly, but not so often that I felt it was intruding. Pain edication was administered as i requested it. Overall it was a good experience while in the hospital. However the billing department and the collection departments do need some attention. My insurance company paid them in full for the surgery. The Insurance company sent me a copy of the EOB and the check that was sent. It clearly stated on the EOB that Grand Strand Hospital was under contract with the insurance carrier, that I had met my deductible 100% and stated on the EOB that I was not responsible for the adjustments. The collection department called me and said I owed the $850.00. I questioned whether or not they had received the check and the EOB. I was told that they had received something similar. I asked her to please read the document. That I was not responsble for any balance owed. That my insurance contracted company contracted with them and had paid $45000.00. She responded sarcastically, she would check into it. I told her that there was no need to check into it I would fax her a copy of my EOB and the check. Haven't heard anything since, but still waiting.
