How Selected: My doctor has priveledges in this hospital as well as another larger hospital, so I had my choice. All of my nursing friends recommended the smaller hospital because they felt they would better meet my needs. Some nurses were great; others left alot to be desired.
Competitors: I felt thier nursing staff somewhat lacked in organization. I had a morphine dose in recovery at 2pm and did not get another until after 5pm. I was in alot of pain but they kept telling me they were having trouble getting it from the pharmacy. The last thing I wanted to hear was excuses - I was in pain and thought that a patients' comfort was a priority. The next evening, I had to walk down to the nurses station and beg them to give my roomie some meds, she had just had lap RNY that afternoon and waited almost two hours for some relief. However, other nurses were wonderful about keeping us comfortable. It would make a world of difference if they would just supply PCA pumps.
Comments: Other than the issues I had with pain relief, they were great.

How Selected: This is the hospital the surgeon performs the laparoscopic procedures at. The staff were excellent and very responsive to my needs. They needed and received more instruction on patients requiring the surgery. The administration has not been supportive of the program.
Competitors: Excellent
Comments: I received great care and felt that the nursing staff was eager to help in any way possible.
