The hospital stay was OK. They would not let me walk after I got into my room. The nurses were saying that I should not. I was too drugged to clearly explain why, and John listened to what the nurses said. I was asking over and over for someone to help me get up and walk. Only at 10 p.m. finally a different nurse got upset that I did not walked and they helped me get up from the bed (finally). |

This hospital rates highly with me. It was much cleaner than hospitals in my area, they were well equipped, and the staff was THE BEST. Very caring, concerned and quick to help, even when they were extremely busy. |

This is a small hospital compared to others in the area. So much more quiet, less hustle and bustle. A true retreat to recover at. |

The staff at Hillcrest was more than I ever expected. Everyone treated me like I was the only patient there. The nurses and assistants took care of my every need the second I needed it. I can't say enough good about my stay at this hospital. |

The staff was more concerned about the patient that the bigger hospital in the area from my experience. |

The stay went as well as major surgery could go. The staff did their jobs. No rude nurses -- one Asst Nurse stood out, Jenny. She was so wonderful and caring. Jenny has was big heart and a caring touch. Thank you Jenny! |

In the middle. There are 2 other major hospitals in our area. |

All of the staff was extremely kind, compassionate and accomadating. I cannot think of one person there that was anything less. I do feel that they are understaffed and a few times their response time was longer than what I felt was appropriate, although my calls were not emergecies. My IV started beeping around 4:00am and needed to be changed. No one came for 30 minutes. This was irritating because until it is changed, it continues to beep. Things like this happened on more than one occaision. I do believe this is due to understaffing than to poor care by the staff. |

General observations: No patient transport. When leaving the hospital, Trudy had to help wheel me out, carry flowers, my family member had to help carry flowers and sitting the the wheelchair I had to carry my small overnight bag.
Nurses were very helpful. There was one nurse in particular who needs to cut her nails down just a little. When she place the BP cup on my arm, her nails made a couple of impressions in my skin. I would think that it would be a requirement to make sure fingernails are cut below the balls of the fingers. |

My review concerns my pre-op test of the EDG (throat scope). The nurses/ technicians were very nice and helpful. I was not sure what to expect during the procedure but the technicians explained everything before they did it and made me very comfortable. |

Hillcrest Hospital is a smaller hospital and because of this, it offers a more personal environment.

Some larger hospitals have an "in and out" process that makes you realize everybody is so busy and overworked.
