| It was one of two options with my surgeon. My insurance company covered more with this hospital than the other one. |
| Competitors: |
Seems like a "friendlier" and more patient centered hospital than most. Everyone was concerned for my comfort and meeting my needs-starting with pre-op testing and lasting through my stay after the surgery. |
| Comments: |
I can't praise the nursing staff enough, especially the student nurses. They were very attentive, always checking in and making sure I didn't need anything. Whenever I did ask for something, they either got it for me right away, or attempted to get an answer for me. I also felt very comfortable because so many of the issues I usually encounter never came up-such as, they gave me a gown that was large enough (I didn't have to ask for it). They used a big wheelchair-again without my having to remind them I don't fit in normal sized chairs. It is those little things that really add up to making a person more comfortable and less self-conscious. |

This hospital needs a better nursing and nurses aid staff |
| Comments: |
I was neglected by the nursing staff, I was never brought fresh ice chips, water, and never had anything other than IV and ice chips the entire 5 days I was there. No one helped me get washed, or changed. I asked for a wash cloth and was told, sorry, can't help you there!! Rooms are unbearably hot, couldn't sleep too much noise. Had very bad pain no one cared until I passed out and had my friend get the Hospital Doctor down to my room and only then did they find a problem that required an emergency surgery @ midnight ! |

I felt it was much nicer than Valley Hospital in Ridgweood, where I had been before. It was quieter and more personalized. |

I felt the nurses were knowledgeable about bariatric surgery, and were also very attentive. This is a teaching hospital and I was assigned a student nurse every day to help. All in all I was very pleased. |

Terrible. I had major surgery in Rahway Hospital in August and the nurses were wonderful. DON"T GO TO HOLY NAME unless you have an army of relatives/friends to sit at your side. |
| Comments: |
I can't believe they pass fire code; every hallway is filled with clutter. Most of the staff ranged from indifferent to downright mean. Not one person had a clue about bariatric surgery and most were repulsed by the very idea. Thank god I had a pump; waiting for pain meds would have been hell. I was checked at the beginning and end of shift and ignored in between. |

I never questioned that a room would be available as I would have with HUMC. I was taken to surgery on the bed from my room. I waited to be taken to surgery in my actual room. I did not have to shift from a gurney to my bed after surgery and in pain, they had me on my bed in recovery. It was a wonderful set up that should be a best practice scenario for other hospitals. |

| Dr. Goodman & Dr. Hollup do their team surgeries at this hospital - so it was really picked for me. |
| Comments: |
The hospital was great overall. The only trouble I experienced was that they seem to like to put the gastric bypass patients in the rooms closest to the nurses station - and that means no sleep!! They were extremely noisy and inconsiderate to sleeping patients through all hours of the night. One nurses aid even came in and began cleaning my room at 4 AM. I did not appreciate that - but overall my care was stupendous. |

| This is one of the hospitals my surgeon works with and was were I was told the surgery would be performed. |
| Competitors: |
The nursing and clinical staff were great and very personable, although also kept very busy. However, they were always responsive and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. I was fortunate to have the room right outside of the nurses station, so I felt 'safe' yet it was a little noisy. They have an average of 4 WLS patients per week on that floor and are very familiar with the routine, requirements, etc. Overall, it was a very good experience for being in a hospital. |
| Comments: |
The hospital was very accomodating and the staff was very friendly. I never was made to feel 'different' or a 'problem'. The nurses and aides were very helpful and were very responsive. Although I did have to have the usually middle of the night shots, IV changes, vitals, etc. they tried to be as quiet and as quick as possible. A single room was not available, but they did make sure that I didn't have to share a room with anyone, which really enhanced my privacy, and they allowed my husband to stay overnight with me the first night after surgery. |
