I was happy with the experience. Honestly the hospital seemed _busy_ with folks coming and going and it seemed like people were there to actively support their loved ones for whatever reason they were in for. it didn't have that quiet pall of illness most hospitals would have. |

| I chose this hospital in the beginning just because of how close it is to my home. |

I have not had the surgery as of yet. But, I did want to share with everyone just how nice the staff is at Holzer Weight Loss Center. There is no glass to seperate you from the nurses in the check in area. It is a very home style atmosphere. When you walk in you are welcomed at the door. You are offered a cold bottle of water and seated in an over stuffed chair or loveseat. You feel more like you are in a friends home than a doctors office. My three year old and my boyfriend went with me to my consultation and to the meetings and they were both as welcomed as I was. The nurses are so nice and you in no way feel as though you are being judged for being over weight. Instead they are there to help you. Several of the nurses working there have had the surgery and understand excitly how you feel. Dr. Grandia is very down to earth. He walks in the room in shiny cowboy boots, sits down and talks to you like a person. He seems to in no way be rushing you. He gives you all the time you need to ask any questions. He fully explains the surgery, what you can expect, and what will happen after surgery. He even took time to make friends with my three year old. And as for the girls in the insurance pre-approval dept, Kate And Jennifer, well I just can't say enough good things. I have called them more times then I can remember due to alot of trouble with my insurance company and trouble getting old medical records. They have always been very polite and helpful. They have made phone calls and even re-faxed paperwork at a moments notice to try to help this along. If the rest of the hospital staff is just half as kind as the staff that Dr. Grandia has working for him, I feel that this surgery will go very smoothly. And at this point I have no worries. ( Except how long it will now take Cigna for my pre-approval) |

| TV adds, and I had a dilemma, I had a deadline to meet, as my insurance was about to change and the new policy had a gastric bypass exclusion - which meant it wouldnt cover my surgery (even though I had already been approved on my existing insurance). I was on the waiting list at Ohio State, but the wait was several months long. I had my consult on Nov 6 (I already had all my pre requisites ie: psych exam, doctors notes, insurance approval, etc.) and they scheduled my surgery for November 27! (insurance deadline was Dec 1). |

| I was familiar with the hospital from prior treatment of family members, it's reputation for community service, and it's proximity to my home town (rural). |

The Holzer Comprehensive Weight Loss Center has been excellent to work with. The staff are attentive, informative, and respectful. The overall processing time from initial consult through surgery was 3 months for me. I thought this was very timely, compared to others' stories I have heard. The pre-op testing phase was very well done in that the WLS staff saw me through each aspect, and even accompanied me to the different departments (and found my lost husband in the hospital). Everyone has been great thus far. I will re-post post-op review later. |

Tomorrow is the surgery and I feel very confident in Dr. Grandia, Holzer, and the overall experience so far. I think everything will turn out fine, and if any problems arise, Holzer is well equipped to handle them. |

| there would be very little traffic to deal with going there from my house an hour and a half away. I knew I would be making a lot of trips there for follow up meetings and appointments and would be driving it myself sometimes. |

better than average. The staff seems more patient and not as over worked as one hospital near my home. They most always showed up if you needed them. The staff was on the ball. |

I think they should get bigger blood pressure cuffs in the hospital for obese patients. Also the bed in the pre surgery area was very narrow and not for obese patients, I felt like I was going to fall off it, I weighed 275, had I weighed another 100 pounds I would not of been at all comfortable. Overall the hospital was very good. The operating table was workable but narrow also. The only upsetting problem I had when I was in the hospital was when they took the fully out the night before I went home I started needing to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes as the saline was still going into my I.V. and I had on blow up legging that helps to keep away blood clots, they have big tubes and cords and do not let you get up on your own very easily, they have to be undone and unplugged. I called for help to go to the bathroom so many times I was embarassed, sometimes they couldn't come right away and I felt like I was going to burst. Finally I asked if I could get a potty chair to put by my bed through the night only and was told I needed to get up and walk. I reminded them I couldn't with the leggings and I said normally people need to be sleeping through the night not up walking around and that I might wet the bed if I didn't get one as I needed to go so often and my bladder filled up quickly and I would have to call them every ten minutes and couldn't wait. So I then got the potty chair. I was up all night long. |

| Several people that I interviewed about gastric bypass surgery had it done at this hospital. Most of them did not have any complications. |

I had a nurse who was incompetent and allowed me to endure pain for 2 hours, before I threw a fit and demanded pain medication. She had not listened to my statement regarding my IV, thus allowing it to infiltrate and then she removed it, because she didn't want to have to redo it. Then I was put on liquid medication which she was very slow in administering. I did however receive better care from all of the other staff than I have ever received anywhere else. They genuinely do care about their patients and made my stay very comfortable. |

I was in ICU for about 11 days, very ill. My only criticism is that my husband should have been allowed to spend more time with me (while in ICU)to help me cope with the fear of the comorbidities. Keeping him away from me was not in his best interest, either, because our separation added to his anxiety. But overall, I would strongly recommend this hospital and particularly the ICU staff. |

| I was born and raised in the area and had always went to this hospital. All three of my children were delivered here. I have always felt comfortable with Holzer and that is why I chose to drive the nearly two hours to have the surgery done here. |

| Found thru tv. Met with staff and doc. They were excellent. Truly an experienced group of bariatric docs and staff. Many of the workers in hosp had had the surgery or were scheduled to have it. In all depts of hosp, someone knew what you would be going through and shared their experience. Up to date hospital with bariatric center an integral part of it. Very impressed and glad I went there. Aftercare also excellent. They help you every step of the way. Even though it was a 2-hr trip for me, was so glad I went there. |

As compared to Cols hospitals, Holzer had everything I needed. They knew how to handle bariatric patients; some hosp. in Cols don't have a clue even though they are well-respected in other fields. |

It is really hard for me to do this. I work at one of our local hospitals so I always got excellent care for myself or my family members |

Holzer is a small, family oriented hospital that do everything they can to make the customer feel at home and comfortable. Overall this hospital is a good hospital. |
