Comments: For the most part my experience was a good one. The first night that I was there my night nurse was horrible. My mother and I barely got any sleep because my IV bag ran out and my nurse didn't come until the machine beeped for an hour. She was very slow and I even saw her resting her head on her hands ASLEEP at her desk when we went walking. She also sent my barium swollow test wrong. She put it in for a day later than it was supposed to be so I went down for the test almost 3 hours later than all of the other patients on my floor. After these problems the head nurse gave me the best day and night nurses that were on the floor. They were wonderful ladies! They made my last day and a half wonderful.

How Selected: HH is the hospital where my surgeon of choice practices.
Competitors: Head and shoulders above.
Comments: I hate hospital stays (who doesn't), but this was pleasant as it possibly could have been. The worst part was in preop when they tried to get the IVs in. Very painful and not sure the nurses were that good at it. With that behind me, and after the surgery, my experience on the Bariatric floor (4th floor) was very good. All the nurses and techs were so kind and helpful. I'm not really the touchy-feely type, but I honestly cannot say enough about the personnel on the 4th floor. I feel they had an excellent understanding of what my Doctor expected of them and they were right on point.

How Selected: I selected Huntsville Hospital based on the surgeon, Dr. Mailapur. I would have had the surgery at any hospital he was on the staff. The excellent treatment at the hospital had a lot to do with his influence and motivation of the staff attending to bariatric patients.
Competitors: I have heard comments about other hospitals being as good as Huntsville, but have heard negative comments about other bariatric surgeons.
Comments: Excellent experience, would recommend it to anyone looking for quality bariatric care both pre and post-op.
