About this Hospital
A medium size hopsital built in the 1980's. It is a 410-bed not-for-profit, comprehensive, acute-care teaching hospital affiliated with East Tennessee State University. It is also a major medical referral center with Level I Trauma Care and the region's only dedicated emergency medical air transport service. A full range of specialty and subspecialty care services and some of the most advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques are available here. They provide private patient rooms and have separate specialized units for newborn, pediatric, medical and surgical intensive care. Johnson City Medical Center is Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. They have a Ronald McDonald house on the premisis for patients and their families.

I had the room across from the nurses station, and the noise was absolutely horrible. I could not sleep for the slamming and banging around, nurses laughing and talking, the phone at the nurses' station ringing, etc. |

they were prompt about somethings, but the room was way too hot, and no fans available. some of the staff didn't offer any help such as bathing or water. if i hadn't had my sister who is a ccrn i don't think the care would have been good at all |

| I had gall bladder surgery at JCMC in 1996. I had a good experience then so it was a given that I would return for this surgery. |

In seven days my room was only cleaned once. I asked for assistance with a bath and two CNA's came in and wiped off my face and arms and left. It took me four hours of begging to get my medicine for nausea. I was not at all satisfied with the staff at the hospital. I also got a staph infection while there. |

I can say that I worked at Wellmont Holston Valley and they are not as equiped as Johnson City Medical Center. |

The staff was great and I wasn't home one full week and the hospital call to see how I was and how my stay was. They were also interested in any ideals I had to improve others stay. |

Much better. The staff was super. You just can't find that anymore people now a days judge you because of your weight before they know you. We wasn't treated like that here. They were great!! |

| There are 2 hospitals in the area, I had dealt with JCMC before and felt comfortable there. |

Overall, the nurses were AWESOME. Could not have asked for better nurses. I was trying to maintain privacy so I had my name restricted and had the hospital say I was accepting no visitors. They honored this wish and gave out a perfectly acceptable amount of information when others inquired. |

JCMC is a very nice hospital, with very good nurse's and Unit 2200 is great working with the Bariatric patients, thats mostly what they do. I mostly had male nurse's but they were great and knew how to lift and help! Thanks Guys! |

Only had one complant besides the noisy nights, i had an older lady, (70ish) trying to help me get out of bed, CNA, i was very upset they even had her on this unit! I defently let the nurse know, i wasnt about to hurt her or myself! |

This hospital now owns all of the hospitals in the immediate area, so I am assuming they are probably all about the same. |

My overall experience with the hospital was pretty good. I had more difficulties some days than others, but it was completely based on the staff that was working. I had some fantastic nurses and PCPs, and I had some that weren't so great. |

Just as comparable. All hospitals are understaffed inturn you are going to wait for any help you need. |

Make sure that you have someone that is going to stay with you because there was alot of times that I would push the buttom and it would be 10-15 minutes before anyone would call you. I was not one to push the buttom unless it was an emergency. |

It was a good experience and the care I received was excellent. I had a private room my husband could stay with me all the time and my family could visit as they wished. The staff was great and I would have not problem reccomending this hosptial to anyone. |

They are a good medium sized teaching hospital facility. They have access to a lot of different specialties since they are affiliated with the medical college. |

They staff was great. They have some of the finest doctors in the state. They do have equipment for larger people, thought most of it is special order, be sure and ask for it...they do have it. Overall, the support there is great. |
