How Selected:	This is the hospital my surgeon works with.
Competitors:	I have been in Germany almost 4 yrs. I have been in 3 different german hospitals. All have provided excellent care.
Comments:	Staff was very friendly, most spoke english, some nurses went above and beyond to make me comfortable.

Comments:	Sometimes there was a language gap (German-English) between myself and a few of the nurses. I was having some complications (I would sleep, and wake up trying to breathe!!!) and I would let nurses know, but they didn't seem to comprehend what I was trying to explain to them. Other then that, I had a very good experience at this hospital. :)

How Selected:	Tri-Care selected it for me.
Competitors:	I don't know of others that perform this type of surgery.
Comments:	Although, this was a German speaking establishment...I was able to convey my message and the staff was very accomodating. The only problem is the whole privacy issue. It isn't like the states where you are given as much privacy as you need. There is no locks on doors and you share a room without dividers. Put it this way...they shaved me...ahem...with my German roommate looking on and the room door unlocked.

How Selected:	This was the only hospital my doctor preforms this surgery at.
Competitors:	I can't compare this hospital to others because I havn't seen any others.
Comments:	the courtyard of the hospital was beautiful! the only drawback of the hospital was the fact that it didn't have A/C. But other than that is was great.

Comments:	The staff at this hospital was helpful, wonderful, and well trained. The environment was very accommidating for overweight people.

How Selected:	This is where my surgeon performs his surgery and where he is the chief of surgery so this is where I went.
Competitors:	Well, compared to stateside I'd have to say it was very sparsely furnished and you had to bring your own towels and personal toiletries. The staff was excellent though and were there immediately when you buzzed. Sometimes the language was a barrier but they always went a found somebody who spoke English. It was a great experience.
Comments:	The hospital is in downtown Frankfurt so its very busy, but the rooms are adequate and the staff more than made up for anything the room may have been lacking.

How Selected:	This is the hospital where Prof. Weiner operates...no choice. :-)
Competitors:	I had my baby in the Krankenhaus in Bitburg. KH Sachsenhausen is definitely comparable. German hospitals tend to be less chaotic and therefore more restful.
Comments:	You must remember that it's a German hospital. Things are a little different from in the States. But I foudn the whole experience very good. I LOVE that they let you sleep through the night without constant interruptions!!! Definitely more restful & quiet than American hospitals.

How Selected:	This was where the doc I was referred to performed his work.
Competitors:	This was a typical Germany hospital. Overall, I felt that they compared quite favorably with any other German hospital and better than some.
Comments:	Although not all the staff spoke English, they did their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I thought the nurses were absolutely fabulous in their care.

Competitors:	This has been one of the best ones I have stayed in.
Comments:	The doctors and nurses were very friendly and caring. Whatever question I had I got an answer for. They all made it a very pleasant experience.

Competitors:	No local hospital, but I have been in both civilian and military hospitals in the US and this by far was the best care I have ever received.
Comments:	Loved the care and treatment, I received, and the staff was the best ever. Dr. Wiener was execptional, I just can't say enough.

How Selected:	I researched a surgeon through this website and this is the hospital he works at.
Competitors:	Can't compare locally, I live in Israel and flew to Germany for surgery- compared to the aftercare in Israel, this is an excellent hospital.
Comments:	The nursing staff was great, very sensitive to your needs and feelings.

How Selected:	This is the facilty used by my selected Dr.
Comments:	Dr. Weiner has many American patients and most of the support staff do speak English, however limited. It seems that they know certain phrases, just like my German and if you don't ask the question in the way they know it, It sometimes becomes difficult. However the Dr.s who work with Dr. Weiner and Dr. Weiner all speak excellent English and if there is ever a problem just ask to see the Dr. on staff at the time. My favorites were Dr. Pomhoff and Dr. Grebert. Pommy as we call him is always so chipper and has a great sense of humor and good bedside manner, pretty cute too, if not a bit on the skinny side. Dr. Grebert (female) has such a gentle touch and it sometimes is nice to have a woman there. I dont remember the anestesialogists name but he also had a great bedside manner very soft spoken and calming. Dr. Weiner was at the hospital every morning and every evening for rounds even on the weekends. Since the facility does so much WLS I would like to have had a larger bed, and I was one of the small people. I can't imagine how uncomfortable a 400# person would be on one of those hospital beds. Also the hospital gouns were obviously for normal sized people. Some XXXL would have been apreciated. All in all it was a good experience and I did know what I was getting into having surgery in a foreign country.

How Selected:	My insurance found the doctor and the hospital he practices in. Only physician in Germany.
Competitors:	Better rest-better pain treatment-better overall care
Comments:	I was very pleased. They changed your bedding every day (even weekends), they washed me every day until I was able to help myself,they were very responsive to requests for pain med, sleeping med, headache med, coughing med, ANYTHING! ICU staff was wonderful! Ward staff was super! Much more peaceful. Doctors saw me EVERY day, even weekends! Offered drinks throughout the day. Exceptional care!
