| I learned it was the hospital the wonderful doctor Thomas Byrne worked at, and I've been there before for cardiac related issues in the past. |

MUSC is an ok hospital but I believe Roper has much more empathetic and caring nurses and St.Francis has the most up to date facility. |

I like MUSC but feel that they need to work harder at communicating better and making sure the process runs smoothly. Lots of incorrect information was relayed and several nurses, doctors, secretaries failed to do their jobs resulting in delays and stress. |

NURSES VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL BUT WAS NOT OFFERED ASSISTANCE W/ BATHING.
ROOM WAS CLOSE TO NURSE'S STATION, WAS A LITTLE NOISY AT TIMES.
WAS A LITTLE DISCONCERTING TO HAVE TO SHARE A BATHROOM W/ THE NEXT DOOR ROOM. FELT THIS WASN'T VERY SANITARY.

| Creme de la Creme of hospitals. Staff really cares for their patients and the surgeon, Dr. Byrne is ranked in the top of the USA of bariatric surgeons. I love him and the nurses, rooms, and staff did all they could to make my stay comfortable and pleasant.
After surgery, the nurse climbed in my bed, sort of, and gave me a back rub til I fell asleep!!!
This was the best hospital, private room and great, caring, nice, southern, nurses.....moved to CA and went to UCI, well, you can read.....night and day!!! |

My overall experience was great. My day nurse mehgan was amasing. She was very attentive and seemed to really love her job. The only complain I have is with my discharge. The last morning I was in the hospital I pretty much had to bug everyone just to get anything accomplished. Karen, who was supposed to be my nurse couldn't be bothered with helping me with anything, and when I did go tothe nurses sttion to find out what the hold up was I got to hear her complaining basically makeing it very clear that she hated having to do anything that had to do with patients. As if she had to go out of her own way. Notsoemthing you look for in someone that is dealing with the public let alone patients. It was VERY unprofessional if you ask me. Her behavior alone lowered my respect for the place greatly .. I understand there is a shortage of good nurses, that is the reason I am going to nursing school, though that in now way excuses that behavior. |

Honestly, I haven't had a hospital stay anywhere in this area, but the few times I had to visit another hospital in the area for various reasons I have been pleased. MUSC, however, could not have done more to make my bypass surgery more pleasant. THANKS! |

The Byrne Blvd. team is the best! These folks understand (or do a good job pretending they understand) what we are going through. They are sensitive, professional, kind, and courteous. I was so pleased with the care I received while a patient in their wing. I credit them with my positive attitude and speedy recovery. |

| It is where I work and Dr. Byrne has an excellent reputation, as well as the program. I am impressed at the localization of bariatric surgery patients on one unit. It does ensure nurse awareness with the illness at hand. However I did get several different ideas of what to do from different nurses. |

Being my first experience in the hospital, it wasn't bad. Only 2 problems - one, there was construction behind the wall in my room and second, when the doctor said I could go home at 6am, I was not let go till 4pm that afternoon. Need to work on that. |

I am diabetic. I feel that while the staff handled the surgery itself very well, that there was little consideration of diabetic nutritional needs. For example, after surgery I was required to drink many small cups of concentrated juice, which made my blood sugar soar and made me very ill. I did mention this to Dr. Morgan afterwards. |

| I have prior experience with MUSC with other health issues. The care then was excellent as well. My selection of a surgeon was made after reviewing the surgeon's record and after reviewing his achievements prior to, and during his tenure at MUSC. The fact that my doctor worked at MUSC made him an excellent choice in my opinion. |

The doctors at MUSC have saved my life on more than one occasion. The nursing staff has always been caring and responsive, as well as very sensitive to my needs. The bypass surgery was, by far, the best experince I have ever had in any hospital. I would recommend it to those truly searching for the best healthcare available! |

I have never been an inpatient anywhere, but I work in the health care feild. The nurses, CA's and doctors were very nice, Dr Byrnes has his own Bariatric Wing/Hallway so they know specifically how to care for us fat ppl . The bed was a normal bed, I did not require anything oversized, the wheel chair was oversized, too big actually, but functionable. The CA's came in every 3 hours for temp, blood pressure, and to measure my drain and urine out put, so someone was always around. I had a pain pump from the start, all equipment and procedures went well. |

For some reason the room I was in would get barged into at full speed by interns or students. This happened about 4 times over my stay, the door would fly open and give me or my mother heart failure ( I was asleep mostly), usually in the middle of the night. Then they would realize it was a patient room and leave just as fast. I never asked but maybe the next door down was the "lounge" lol. Only real problem I can think of was my blood pressure steadily raised and each time we asked if I should take my meds Id get put off. On day 3 right before I was discharged they finally asked one of the "other" doctors, and she said I could take it when I got home. Apparently its a big deal to take medicine you bought from home, and a bigger process to get the hospital pharmacy to get you some...I think arrangements should have been in my chart from registration to have an equivalent medicine and regiment in my chart. Even that wasnt a big deal, overall I had a great stay. |

My post-op care at MUSC was excellent.
Everyone from the lady who cleaned my room to the charge nurses was always pleasant, friendly and willing to help. My requests were answered in a timely manner and they were handled pleasantly. All who were responsible for my recovery were very professional and caring. I am very pleased with my experience at MUSC. |

This hospital was absolutely wonderful. The room they gave me was a private one. It had been re-done to accomadate Gastric Bypass patients. The bathroom was huge and very nice and the bed was so comfortable. I stayed 4days and I would have stayed another if they would have offered. I have never experienced wanting to stay in a hospital longer then necessary. All of the nurses were so wonderful with the exception of one. She was just not that friendly and was not as caring. I was allowed to have visiters when ever I wanted to and also have someone spend the nights with me to help out. I am thankful I was able to go to MUSC. |

The hospital's bariactic unit, on floor 6 West, is currently undergoing an add-on phase so they will have more beds available for this unit. Unfornately, if you happen to be right next door to the construction area then if it is a weekday it will get a little noisy during normal working hours. I got that particular room that was noisy, but I had my surgery on a Friday and so the noise from the construction did not happen until 8:00 AM on the afternoon that I was being discharged, so I was lucky. My room was okay. The only thing that I truly hated about my stay at MUSC is that on Sunday afternoon I discovered fruit flies in my sink (the charge nurse at the time said they were there as a sign that there was a leak somewhere in the piping). I reported it to my nurse and she in turn called to report it to the hospital's environmental dept. But when no one had come to take care of the problem by Monday morning, I reported it to the charge nurse at the time. She then asked me if I was being discharged that day and I said yes and so she said that someone would be in to take care of it when I am discharged. "Yeah, right!" So I feel sorry about the next person that got that same room later that afternoon. |

The staff was great!! There was only one time that one of the nurses was less than polite. Otherwise they were all great. Very helpful and fast if I needed any help. I had some problems and they were very kind and made me feel like they really cared. They treated my husband (he stayed with me the entire time I was in the hospital) great too. He was impressed with the care I received. |

The nurses were great to me. I can't thank them enough. Also, I wasn't put in the Bariatric Wing of MUSC on the 6th floor. I was on the 6th floor, but in a different wing. The bed was normal size and was good for me. I had a bathroom to myself, whereas I was told that the patients in the Bariatric Wing had to share; 2 to a bathroom. |
