How Selected:	My medical doctor worked for Mcleod Regional Medical Center and I just like this hospital
Competitors:	The best ever my local hospital is only a stoping place until I can get to Mcleod Regional Medical Center.
Comments:	I have always used Mcleod Regional Medical Center.I myself like it the personal is awsome.In fact I became good friends with my SICU nurse.And if I would not have use this hospital I would have missed the chance of meeting one of the nicest person in the world.That showed me I was somebody and that they cared about me and not what I looked like.

Competitors:	I hear Carolina's is better trained for this type of surgery. Carolina's also offers a much better pay out of pocket plan.

Comments:	I was so surprised at how attentive the nursing staff was to me. I was very pleased!

How Selected:	My insurance company chose it but I was very happy to be going to Mcleod.
Competitors:	I personally prefer Mcleod to Carolinas. Carolinas could not even get my name OR birthdate correct (and it is still not correct on their records although I pointed it out when I went to meet with the dietician there). That did not make me feel none too confident.
Comments:	My only complaint is that the room was extremely small. They could give the persons who are staying multiple days the nice rooms. They give the expectant mothers very nice rooms and mostly they only stay overnight :)

How Selected:	My insurance chose this hospital.
Comments:	I recieved very good care while I was in this hospital. The nurses were great as well as the rest of the staff. The only thing I could say negative is the room was rather small.

How Selected:	Friend had her surgery there.
Competitors:	As good as some, but they didn't require a huge up front amount in cash.
Comments:	Everyone treated you like family. They also have a guest house across from the hosptal for the family at the rate of $10.00 a night.

How Selected:	They were in my PPO network.
Competitors:	Ihave been in worst
Comments:	First of all they were in my PPO network. However when it came time for pre-cert they tried to tell me they were not. They told me that this is cosmetic and an elective surgery. This really pissed me off.They were trying to tell me that i would have to come up with $11,000 for the $23,000 surgery. This is all happening two days before i was scheduled to go in. I was told that i needed $3000.00 and that is all I had. My carrier and the hospital can to an agreement that they would let this slide. I was at the piont where i did not care what the cost was i just wanted the surgery. If I had to choose i would mot go back to Mcleod for any hospital stay.

Comments:	I can not say enough about the staff and care I recieved. God put me here and the staff literally saved my life. There response to my code blue situation was exceptional. There is one thing they lack though, there food for WLS patients was always lacking. By that I mean they only got the type allowed and methods and measurements of food correct about two meals. The rest of the time they really messed up.

How Selected:	I was assigned through my Doctor's office.
Competitors:	I found the hospital to be well equipped and the staff efficient. The operating room staff was exceptional …I found the stay to be fairly restful, even though the mattress was really miserable.
Comments:	Over all, the service was very good, although the billing department was incredibly inefficient - Asking for payment of 20,000+ dollars via a handwritten note instead of an actual printed bill was one example of this. Sending separate bills for individual items, rather then unifying them onto a single statement (x-ray readings, for example) is yet another. A more realistic estimation of the operation's actual cost prior to its execution would also have increased their financial credibility. (The original estimate we were given was off by almost 15,000 dollars)

Comments:	The staff was very nice & helpful in any way possible.They seem very caring, & if I had to go back there again I wouldnt hesitate one minute.
