The staff is just like the staff anywhere else, there were hits and misses in the care I got, but overall there were MANY more hits. My surgeon, his immediate staff, and support team couldn't have been any better. They took care of any issues that I had, including handling a nurse who gave me less then excellent care. this hospital is an A++ |

Much better than my local hospital (Brick Hospital/Ocean Medical Center). Would have only considered one other (Jersey Shore Medical Center). |

MMC allegedly had a dedicated wing for bariatric recovery. My room was quite comfortable, the bed was larger than normal, and everyone was super-nice and respectful. Not for one minute did I feel judged or "looked down on" because of my weight or any limitatons I have because of it.<p>
However, I was quite concerned with the nursing staff's lack of bariatric surgery issues and circumstances. For example, noone seemed to know what I was and wasn't supposed to eat, and noone was encouraging exercise (we were told prior to surgery that there would practically be someone kicking my butt to get out of bed). In fact, the nurses, in all good faith, encouraged me to rest! I know they meant well, but resting didn't move the gas, if you know what I mean.<p>
Also, pain management was a huge issue...6 hours post-op I had to ask for my pain meds, and then proceeded to wait 1 1/2 hours for it to come. Thanks to my brother for going out and making a ruckus while I layed in bed and cried.<p>
But, I get the feeling that if the nurses were a little more attuned to bariatric stuff, this would be an A+ hospital floor to be in. |

I feel that the staff @ Monmouth Medical were very accomdating. I have not been in the hospital since I was about 10 years old I have been very fortunate not to have any illness up to this point in my life. |

I feel that the staff @ Monmouth Medical were very professional and kind. From everyone from dietary, housekeeping, radiology and of course the hardest working nurses in the business. As a nurse myself, I was very impressed with the care I received @ Monmouth. What more could I say? After my weight begins to stabilize, I am going to have my plastic surgery @ Monmouth. I feel they the care I received will be just as professional as before. |

I had a surgery prior to this one and didn't have the care i had this time....i could not have had a better experience there......They are very supportive and there to help you in anyway you need. God Bless each and everyone of them |

Total experience was pleasant. All staff were very nice.
Recovery room was too loud and not attentive.
ICU and Floor nurses were outstanding. Surgical staff was great!
Had one bad "nurse" who couldn't get an IV in. The rest were awesome! |

I was disappointed with personal care. I had to beg someone to give me a bath, on the general floor, in recovery and ICU they were more attentive!!

ICU staff was horrible in managing bariatric patients. I slept in a broken bed 2 days and they had no chair, foot stool or commode to accommodate me.
The staff could not lift me and made comments aloud at the desk about me.
It was an awful experience to go through |

They had a "special" bed for bariatric patients, however, no one knew how to use it!! I was bumped and jossled around too much. Also, I received regular jello as my first food and dumped badly. The nurses had no idea what was happening and that made it even scarier. Thank God I had researched enough to know what was happening, but the nurses were clueless and said that the little bit of sugar in one ounce of jello could not have caused my reaction - oh yes it could and it did!!! |

My hospital stay was pretty good. There was one creepy nurse, but for the most part there were excellent caring nurses with really good assistants. Except for that one nurse my experience was very good. Pain meds were administered close to time or when requested all other requests were timely as well. No real complaints to speak of. |

The nursing staff was great...unfortunately when I came out of surgery there were no icu beds and I had to spend the first night and second day in the recovery room(NO privacy). I was finally moved to a regular room at 3pm the following day. I was extremely upset because my husband and friend waited all day and were given exactly two minutes to pop in and see me in the recovery room after my surgery had been over for hours! And then they had to leave because visitors are not allowed in the recovery room. I found this experience very distasteful. |

I was very surprised with the care that I received. I had my first baby there and a few operations and was not happy with the care. this time the care was outstanding but it could be due to the fact that I was in ICU the whole stay. |

My stay was very comfortable. The nurses in ICU except for the one who admitted me to the floor was wonderful. The nurse who admitted me to the floor told my husband and mother that this surgery is the new wave now and I'd like to see these people in 20 years from now. Real nasty. I told the nurse that releived her and never seen that nurse again. |
