How Selected: This was my surgeon's choice.
Competitors: I didn't care for this hospital much.
Comments: They didn't listen to me. They were putting sugar-water in my left arm and testing my blood sugar in my left hand. Obviously it was elevated (220) so they hit me with insulin, even though I'm NOT DIABETIC. They screwed up my other drugs, which got so bad that after 3 days I was hallucinating. I was so uncomfortable because of the bed that my heart rate was always elevated and my blood pressure was up so they kept me an extra 2 days. Once I got up out of bed and was able to take care of myself I convinced them to let me go home. When I got home I finally got some rest and when I woke up I tested my blood sugar and it was 85. I felt lucky to be alive after I left that hospital.

How Selected: This was one of two that Dr. Overcash uses, although he uses this one more than the other.
Competitors: I know that it is extremely better than the hospital in Jacksonville that does the bariatric surgerys. I drove 2 1/2 hours to be a patient of Dr. Overcash and I'm extremely glad I did.

How Selected: The hospital was selected because it is the hospital covered by insurance that Dr Overcash uses. However, if I had chosen it myself I would have to say it was beyond expectation.
Competitors: I would compare this hospital as AAA+++ service as to the other hospitals in my area. In Melbourne, we have Wuesthoff and Holmes Regional available to us. Monroe would be my hospital of choice if I lived closer. The parking was great as they have mini-buses to pick up visitors and bring them to the front. Pre-op patients have a seperate place to come and park which leads you right to where you need to be. The beauty of the facility is wonderful and surgical floor has private rooms. The staff was wonderful and very friendly to me and my family. I would recommend Monroe Regional to anyone having to go into the hospital.
Comments: I had no problems with the staff except for one and after commenting to the nurse, I didn't have this aide again. Monroe staff wants your stay with them to be restful so you can heal quicker and be on your way to better health. This is a great hospital.

Competitors: It was great nice and modern big rooms and clean. Nurses were very attentive and gentle.
Comments: I would give it 99.9% don't want to go that 100% for nothing is that good. LOL I was reading other postings and that is too funny about the guy that delivers you to X Ray for your tests. He does drive too fast and you do think you will be dumped out of the wheelchair. I talked to him and he works out all the time. Maybe he uses his patients to keep a fast steady pace when he delivers us to and from anywhere in the hospital. Lucky him he can run that fast maybe some day we will all be so lucky to travel in haste... LOL

Comments: they need to get rid of those carts they drag in to your room at all hours of the day and night, to scan your braclet for meds, iv fluids, its extremly iritating, they give you pain meds, then you finally go to sleep, then they come banging that cart in your room wake you up 2o min later, I just think they could come up with a better system, wasnt impressed with the lab girl that I had at 0300, told her she wasnt going to get anything out of my left arm, but she wouldnt listen, she insisted on sticking me, and digging for a few min, till I finally told her to go get my nurse, NOW.

How Selected: Dr. Overcash's staff indicated that this was my insurance companys choice.
Competitors: I would choose it again hands down. I've stent a lot of time in hospitals (as a nurse) and this was truely a great one.
Comments: Great staff, good housekeeping, food (little that we got) was plesent. Watch out for the S---head from radiology who drives too fast with the wheelchair, he could dump you out, (I filed a complaint) and was not the only one to do so.
