About Morristown Memorial

We've been serving the Morris County community for over 100 years, setting high standards of medical care in keeping with the needs of our discriminating customers. Our commitment and quality of care has also earned national recognition.

We've been designated a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by AETNA and a Magnet Hospital for Excellence in Nursing Service by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the nation's leading nursing credentialing organization. And we're just not about Bariatrics. People come from all over the U.S. for our cardiac surgery program due to its superior outcomes — AARP recently rated the program #4 among all U.S. cardiac surgery hospitals. Our cancer care includes radiation therapies only two other U.S. hospitals can offer, and we built a separate hospital on our campus where kids can be treated like kids.

Morristown Memorial Hospital is a clinical affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School. We are also a partner with The Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Morristown Memorial Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

A winner of the National Research Corporation's 2003 Consumer Choice Award.

About our Bariatric Program

Have you tried and failed to lose weight through traditional weight-loss methods such as diets, pills, and exercise programs? Do you suffer from obesity-related health problems that require immediate and permanent weight loss? If you are 100 pounds or more overweight, Morristown Memorial Hospital may be your best hope for weight loss success.

Our program was founded by John Edoga, MD, in 1999. Today, our highly skilled surgeons perform as many as 25 laparoscopic gastric bypasses per week, making Morristown Memorial Hospital one of the largest Bariatric centers on the east coast. Our extensive experience results in faster recoveries, fewer complications, and less postoperative pain.

In addition, we offer a comprehensive aftercare program that sets us apart from other hospitals. We provide nutritionists, clinicians, testing, and postoperative support all in one location to help you lose weight and keep it off, permanently.

For more information, call us today at 973-971-7166. If you're interested in viewing a gastric bypass procedure that was performed at Morristown Memorial, please click here.

How Selected: My surgeon works out of this hospital.
Comments: I thought they dealt with bariatric patients very well. The equipment, knowledgable staff about the surgery and their procedures as well. My only complaint was my second day nursing team. The two nurses I had immediately after surgery were WONDERFUL. They checked on me constantly, talked to me about my surgery and made me feel that they actually cared about me. Both ladies even gave me a hug good bye and wished me well. From that point on though I was ready to go home. No one seemed to be around; my IV battery was constantly going off and I spent the next 2 days pushing the silent button so I didn't disturb my room mate.

Competitors: I was completely happy and would recommend this hospital to anyone looking for one to go to.
Comments: I don't have one complaint. I had a problem the first night with someone I was sharing a room with, and I said something about it, and the hospital staff took care of it immediately. They were all wonderful and very well trained.

Comments: I was a patient in 2000, when the bariatric services were new - -hopefully they do better now. In 2000 they were not well equipped or understanding of the needs of gastric bypass patients!
