About this Hospital
The first shift was wonderful, after that it went down hill. DH had to help me and the patient in the other bed. The nurses came in and gave me the wrong meds., didn't remember to continue with the antibiotics, and the IV ran out. They had to be called repeatly. |

When I had my GB done on 02/19/05, I always said if anything happened to me, this is the hospital where I would want to be. In Oct. 2006, I wasn't feeling well and after being at the Fl Hosp. I went to Ocala from Orlando and checked in there.Some nurses were still there, some even remembered me; everyone there is great. They take care of you, they pamper you, they are patient. 6th Floor(Surgery) staff is great!! |

Believe it or not this is the first hospital I've been in that was so quiet.I never heard them bring in the food trays or the nurses talking. It was wonderful. |

I just love the nurses here I never had so many that really cared and never acted like I was a pain when I needed help. I didn't feel like the were looking down on me because of my weight. I can not say enough about my nurses! |

I felt that the hospital looked after all of my needs. Yes, I am partial but as an employee I felt that the people there respected my wishes of keeping this surgery private. My wishes were respected. The nursing care from the patient care technicians, radiology department, the surgery department to the nurses was excellent. I never wanted for pain medications or anything. My father and a friend was with me and were very impressed with the care that I recieved. Even from the individuals that didn' t realize I worked there. My friend stated that you could tell that the feelings were genuine. |

I felt like EVERYone was compassionate about my size and took good care of me. The day time nurses and techs were all friendly but they seemed to be spread thin based on all the patients being awake and needing attention. I was not unhappy just thought they could have used more help. The night time nurses and techs were awesome, they were right there when I needed something and were also very friendly. My family and I were very impressed with the care given, the large private rooms, the beautiful grounds and the wonderful staff. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone who has a choice! From the time I walked in until the time I was wheeled out, I was given a 5 star treatment, as an obese person that is usually not the case. I was very pleased with Munroe Regional! |

Everything was just great. The rooms were wonderful, very nice sized private rooms. The staff was really very good. They were definitely prepared for "oversized" people....the gowns were extra roomy and there were wheelchairs that were very large.
The parking was an issue, but that's the case at any hospital, and they are building a parking garage. They do have reserved parking for you the day of surgery which I thought was great.
I would go back to Munroe in a heartbeat if I needed to! |

I felt that the night shift was more helpful and responded to my needs and calls much better than the day shift some of the nurses on the day shift act as if they just game out of middle school (very goffy!!) like baby talk and just plan stupid at times. |

It was excellent!! It was as if I had walked into a fancy hotel lol |

The hospital wasy great!! When we got out of our car in the parking lot we were picked up by the shuttle service right at our car. Stopped at the info desk and was escorted directly to the area I needed to go. Signed in and within a few minutes was taken to the pre-op area. The nurses there were wonderful very swift and knew their "stuff". Within an hour i was taken to the operating room.(from there I dont rem much until later that night) my surg was at 10am I dont rem much until about 9pm when I woke hurting and asked for some pain meds which I was given within minutes. The whole of the stay was wonderful and I thank all the staff for taking such good care of me (even when I had to walk for the first time post-op he he) My overall rating of this hopsital A+ |

I made two unannounced visits just to check the Hospital out and both times I was met with kindness and as much help as I wanted. I would recomend Monroe Hospital a anyone who needs this surgery. |

The evening nurses were responsive to my needs, but the hospital is short handed, I was in a semi private room and I was fortunate enough that my mother was allowed to stay, she handled most everything, my walks, my ice chips, making sure I had my meds ect .. she was not supposed to stay but my family had left her with me unknowingly and she had no way back to Jacksonville, so the night nurses turned their heads, but it worked out in both our favor as they were not having to keep close contact with me and my mother did 99% of what they would have had to do. The day shift was the worse .. can hear them ordering breakfast from my room even after I asked for pain meds and took them almost half an hour and most likely would have taken longer but my mom went and requested that they need to get me the pain meds .. all in all .. take someone if you can .. it will make your stay so much more comfortable. |

From check in to check out everyone was very friendly and helpful. I had some amazing nurses (especially Charlotte, Steve, and Tammy) and when I needed help or anything they always were on hand. Despite a bad experience of losing my iv line, everything went well. My mom and husband raved the treatment I received, and I do the same. |

The night shift rocks!!! They were right there with anything I need. The day shift SUCKED, I was bleeding from my incision when I went down for my leak test and it was all over my gown. I told someone when I got back and then 2 hours later (after my husband gave them a piece of his mind) someone finally came to check it. That was the worst thing that happened, the rest of the stay was ok. |

Day nursing care was awful. I was actually scolded by one of the nurses for using my call button what she considered to be too many times. She said "there are other patients on this floor we must attend to!". However, they kept telling us we must get up and walk but we could not detach the leg compression devices and IV pump cords/nasogastric tube without help! If Dr. Overcash comes in to see you and you are sitting in bed he will have a fit! He wants you up walking. I was just trying to follow orders and the nurses were NOT helpful. The night nurses were much more friendly and nice than the day nurses. |

I could not believe they had a rocking chair in the room that had arms on it so that a morbidly obese person could not sit in it. And Dr. Overcash wants you out of bed and either walking or in that chair, period, or woe the wrath to befall you! |

I can not say enough about the staff on the 6th floor surgical...Marybet,Sherry, Steve and Margery...don't remeber the 1st shift that helped that day but they were all great..especially Susan...she was great... |

The nursing staff was incredibly great - they were caring and there for me the entire time. Also, one of my RNs had had the surgery and was very helpful. Kudos to the Nurses and Aides!!! |
