How Selected: surgeon selected, first choicewould be another months of waiting time
Competitors: The hospital has potential but still has some way to go to be up to par with St. Francis which was my first choice.
Comments: Most of the nurses and tech's were a delight, very helpful and attentive. I loved the fact that they have a family room on the floor I was on where I could viist my family in relative privacy and feel comfortable, even my 2year old was alloweed into the family room.

How Selected: my surgeon has started using this hospital as his second hospital. He stated that he felt they treat his patients better than the other hospital he uses and I agree
Competitors: I think the staff was very friendly and much more in touch with one another, where as in the other hospital I usually use so many doctors come in and out they don't alway know what the last doctor said.
Comments: The only thing that didn't impress me is that you still have to pay for the TV, and you can't pay cash, you have to charge it to your home phone bill. It was also, which is not their fault, but hard for me to get a hold of anyone because anyone I called was long distance. But even my husbands cell phone which wasn't long distance, the phone wouldn't allow me to call the number. So I couldn't really call out when I needed to.

Competitors: new britain was the best compared to the waterbury hospital were i live. It's clean and the staff were so nice to me and my family it's a beautiful hospital.

Overall Value: Average Oversized Equipped: Poor Oversized Sensitive: Average
Multi Security: Good Privacy: Very Poor Pain Medication: Excellent
Quiet: Very Poor Visiting: Excellent Staff Responsive: Poor
Parking: Excellent
How Selected: It's where my surgeon practices
Competitors: Poor. I was used to the accomodations, expertise and caring of UConn
Comments: I think that the staff needs alot more training in the needs of WLS patients. I was only able to walk 3 times after my surgery, they gave me a bed with a mattress that was only about 2 inches thick, instead of the air beds that were sitting in the hallway that would have relieved back and rearend pressure, if I called the nurses desk it would take about an hour for them to respond. I do feel that they try, please don't get me wrong, but that they haven't had the training as to what we need and are very under staffed. The nurses were very kind though and caring.
