I have been in a lot of hospitals in my lifetime. I have had 3 surgeries myself, my son has had 3 open heart surgeries, my daughter has had two surgeries, my mother had Cancer for 10 years. Long story short, out of allllll the hospitals I have ever been in, this was by far the very best! |

Valey parking for handicapped, Everyone was sooo nice and considerate, Private room, fabulous air bed that was so comfy and actually turned into a chair!! They also brought in another chair that was awesome. Wide and raised your feet, lounged etc. Everyone was efficient, knowledgeable and kind. I loved this hospital! Several professionals stopped in to check up on me, including the Gynocological Oncologist and I am not even her patient! Awesome hospital, #1. |

During my stay, the staff was WONDERFUL. All of the nurses and techs that I dealt with on a daily basis were extremely sensitive and knowledgeable of my bariatric needs. |

| The hospital staff was exceptional. I loved my trauma nurse he was the best most caring person I have ever met. I wish I could meet him again it has been awhile. I recommend this hospital. |

I had some apprehensions about the nursing care at this hospital, based on several friend's previous experiences. My dietitician said that things had changed with a new executive administrator. My experience was great! I was cared for in the intensive care unit, so I cannot attest to the nursing care on a general floor, but they do have a shining star program, which I am told is lucrative for the staff. My experience with everyone from admission to discharge, including nuclear medicine, imaging, and X-ray was excellent. In the future, this will be my preferred hospital. |

I was in ICU the entire 4 days I was in, but I didn't mind. The treatment was great, the nurses were there when I needed them. My ICU bed turned into a chair which made it much easier to get in and out of. It was ICU so the quietness wasn't always there because of the various machine alarms going off, but I was able to rest. |

Make sure you have a family memeber stay with you,it helps a lot.I payed the $50.00 extra a night so my husband could stay in the private room with me,and I would do it again if I had to. |

Everything was great. The staff was nice and helpful, alittle under staffed. But they all helped and got to you as soon as they could. They where working very hard, NOT talking around at the nurses station. That is very important. |

This hospital has very poor nursing and aid staffing and is in desperate need of more help. make sure you have a loved one close by while your there. I didnt like the 3rd floor care or concern at all, I got better treatment in the recovery room then upstairs |

My surgery was 30 March 04. The lack of staff was very evident. Some staff seemed extremely harsh to me and operated on the reward and punishment method. I WOULD NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL EVER AGAIN. I had to tell these nurses when IV infiltrated in my neck even though it was very swollen. I guess they were not even checking the site for infiltration.
Scary place, my step-mom had to beg just to get my staff to take my temp Temp was over 105 before staff even took it. Nurses tried to get people (doctor, family members) to think I was "confused" when I was not. At one point the nurses tied me by both hands and both legs to hospital bed and I spent one of the most uncomfortable nights of my life. Nurse came in to work sick with coughing spells. Some nurses did not want to help you to bathroom even day of surgery. I AM A NURSE, patients should not be treated the way I was treated, I did nothing to deserve the way I was treated, it was horrendous. I even had to walk from floor out of hospital as they could not get anyone to come and take me out by wheel chair, my husband and I waited about 45 minutes, asked more than one nurse and finally gave up and just walked out. Terrible conditions overall, I was afraid while in this hospital, many nurses just did not care. Other nurses felt they had the right to punish patients if they did something the nurse did not like. Had I not had someone who stayed with me part of the time, my condition may have deteriorated even more without anyone caring enough to take my vital signs or being aware of the problems I was experiencing. For this hospital, you really need a friend or family memeber to be with you at all times. Be warned, this could also happen to you. |

Most of the nurses there were horrible.

It was the most neglecful, scary stay I have EVER had. NO BEDS AVAILABLE for three days so they kept 2 of us in the Primary Care Unit and in or beds the whole never offered to: bathe, get you up, no breathing therapist till 3rd day, repeated request to get up and walk or go to bathroom ignored |

If PCU is for monitoring and that is all (which is understand that is its purpose) however, if you are stuck there they should at least make sure your need are met. My Doctor is the best at what he does and I knew he wouldn't let anything happen but . . . |

| It was the hospital that the Surgical Group of Gainesville used, and there was never a question. I had always heard that NFRMC was a very good hospital. |

NFRMC is going through renovations at the moment and with what they have completed it will be just as beautiful as the rest in the area, and the physicians are just as qualified as the next hospital. |

I seem to be very lucky in the room where I was placed. The staff was wonderful. Etha was extremely helpful along with Suzanne and Diana and the rest of the crew that I can't remember their names. It was a nice change because my sister is going to have the surgery on the 23rd of February and it will make her transition easier knowing of the caring people that will be taking care of her. |

This review is just about the preop testing at the hospital everyone was very professional and very friendly. This has been the best experience of any hospital I have been involved with. So far so Good I hope I can come back and say the same after my surgery!!!! |

Despite the fact I had to stay in recovery from Monday morning until Tuesday afternoon, my hospital stay was excellent. The staff treated me and my family with the upmost respect and attention. |

I only have one complaint. I stayed in the recovery room for over 24 hours because there were no available beds. Since, I had to pre-register for this procedure, I took for granted there would be a bed available after surgery. Despite that, the nurses in the recovery room were great. There were 3 other people there and each of us had our own personal nurse. The staff was great throughout the hospital. |

NFRMC's day staff is the best, but it's the evening staff that I had a problem with. They were unattentive and somewhat uncaring, and took an extremely long time to come to your aid. In my opinion, with this kind of surgery I would prefer for someone to be attentive and sensitive to the fact that I've had major surgery (or at least a major surgery to me). |

I couldn't be more pleased. They took good care of me. My Mom stayed with me the entire time and they were wonderful to her. The asked if she had everything she needed and even offered her juice and coffee in the morning. It was my first time ever in the hospital and they were very reassuring. |

They are building on a new wing, but 'til that's done, there is a bed shortage problem. I was supposed to go to Progressive Care or, if no beds there, ICU (because I weighed in over 300 lbs).
Neither happened. They had empty beds when I had the surgery but none anywhere when I should have left recovery. I ended up in RR until late the next afternoon and they still had no beds. Because fresh post-ops were coming in and my fam could no longer visit me there, they put me in the pre-op section for several hours and then on to a private room. They seemed understaffed on the floor...it took awhile for them to answer the bell and then it took awhile to get the help needed. |

nurses were slow to respond to call light, i was in a room with a very sick elderly woman, who moaned and groaned all night and she got regular trays of food which was difficult for me during my stay. I was under the impression that i would be in a room with another gastric bypass patient which is not what happened |

While I was in the PCU, my care was awesome. The nurses, particularly Joanie were out of this world. However, when they put me on the regular floor, it was the most horrible experience of my life. I have never been ignored more completely. It was simply amazing. Had my husband, mom, and sister not taken turns staying w/me 24 hours a day, I would have been incredibly uncomfortable, and thirsty. We could barely get the nurses/lpns in there to check my vitals, or change my fluids. I am not a whiny person, and only rang the bell twice when my buzzer went off, but this was ridiculous. I felt sorry for the older people that were there alone. I know that these nurses are underpaid, overworked etc..., but when you are holding peoples lives in your hands, I think that you have a responsibility to do the best job you can, or get out! Do something else if you can't tolerate sick people. If my family had not stayed with me, I knew that I had to stay in that place a long time by myself, I could have become suicidal. I know that sounds drastic, but the pain was so bad in my back, that I could barely use the toliet without help, I would have been going insane there. Bring FAMILY or FRIENDS!!! |
