The only "problems" I had is that I was under the impression that the nurses were going to "make" you walk later in the day after the surgery. At 6 pm, I was asking to go and walk but was told "no" b/c of some meds that they had given me. By 9 pm, no one had come in to let me or get me to walk so I had to call them again. Again I was put off with them stating that they had started helping people at the beginning of the hall and would be with me shortly. At 9:30 pm, I called again and almost had to get mad but they finally came and let me know what I could unplug and I got to go for my walk. |

Overall, my experience was good. Some of the nurses had a bad attitude, but I figure you'd find that anywhere! I feel the hospital has room for improvement with organization. They were always running behind, I always had to wait for my pain meds, and at night it was common to have to page the nurses numerous times before they would come to the room. I think maybe they were understaffed at night. |

I was very pleased with the attentive and understanding staff. The little things, like having hospital gowns big enough to fit me, were in place. The nurses and assistants have experience with patients that have had the surgery: they seemed to have a smooth routine and were sensitive to my needs. I was pleased to receive a private room (apparently there is no extra charge) which made it easier for my husband to stay with me. |
| Comments: |
Smooth scheduling-the pre-op tests, visit with anesthesiologist, nutritionist, etc. occurred sequentially and in reasonable time frame on Sept. 13. Surgery took place at time planned. During hospital stay, staff introduced themselves, explained why they were visiting with me, what procedures they were about to do, and asked if I had questions. Nursing staff introduced themselves at staff change times and I knew which nurse to ask for if I need pain medication or assistance. Doctor Procter visited at least once each day; the Physician's Assistant visited twice each day. Even the psychologist visited the last day of my hospital stay. During visit, doctor and PA would look at sutures, ask questions, ask if I had questions, etc. |

My stay was terrible. The staff was not able to operate my bed so I was continually rammed into door frames and walls. They did not try to get me up until the third day. I was informed I must use the bathroom before I could leave, but not only was the bathroom incredibly small but they did not have a potty chair I could fit in. I finally got up and walked down the hall to the public restroom at 7:00 the third day just so I could leave. While I was there the elevators were being worked on so there was an incessant pounding for the entire second and third days. To be fair, most other people have said their stay there was fine or they had very few problems. |

This hospital was vey good and the staff was excellant. They have specially designed Bariatric beds. They will take you from a flat position to a sitting position as in a chair. All you have to do then is stand up. no struggling to get out of bed. These beds cost $20,000. I was told that my surgeon bought two of these for the hospital. |

| Dr. Proctor uses this facility. I never felt fat-just another patient that needed care. I wanted to go to a nearby hospital as opposed to one of the Atlanta hospitals--I live in Athens which is about 1 hr from Gainesville. |
| Competitors: |
Much better than Athens Reg Med Center or St. Mary's Hospital when it comes to sensitivity of bariatric patients. The staff was excellent, professional & kind all of the time from nurses on down to housekeeping. Always someone in & out of the room & they followed your progress constantly! |
| Comments: |
Highly recommend it to everyone. Dr. Proctor's office is in the medical office bldg attached to the hospital by a skywalk so he can visit his patients more often if necessary. No lost time in driving. This is the same for the bariatric coordinator--she visits all patients as well. They have made arrangements with several local hotels to offer discounts to relatives that need overnight accomodations. It is very easy to find the hopital & convenient to most northeast GA cities. Pre-op testing was excellent--the staff is so excited about being a part of this journey for you. |

I was very pleased with the service. It was hard to go through it without pain control, but would do it again in a moment. |
