Was shoved in a double person room that was so tiny when people came to visit they were standing on top of each other. The staff didn't help you to do much of anything, even after you would call them. I wouldn't go back to this hospital again unless I was forced to go. |

OSu was a great exiperence for me. All the staff was great to my needs and family. I had a private room from all the visitors that I had. My room stayed very cleans by housekeeping. When ever I needed anything the staff was there and answer all my questions. All the days I was there Dr. Cook came by and seen me and that let me know he care. |

My local hospital doesn't offer WLS, but even if they did - I probably would NOT have used them. OSU has a much better reputation. |

I was in a room near the nurses station - NOISY if the door was open (yep, I'd call and ask them to close it for me). I also had one nurse who I didn't care for, so I requested she not be my nurse after one shift with her. The other staff was ALL wonderful...if not for the one nurse, I would rate this whole experience as near perfect. |

Everything was great except at weigh-in before surgery. Their scale did not go up to my weight or would not find it, which was 343.6 (at least that is what I think it was). Staff was great and met all of my immediate needs. I would definitely recommend this hospital to others having this surgery. |

altho the hospital I thought was ok, the nurses were good, but the medical help I can't remember what there called nursing assistants or something like that, really left alot to be desired. I could not move because of my second surgery. I was flat on my back for the 5 weeks I was there. several times when I rang my buzzer to go to the bathroom, I was so embarassed because after waiting 15minutes for help to put a bed pan under me, I had wet the bed, and then they got mad at me. but the nurses and Dr's were great |

I couldn't of had better nursing staff to assist me. Throughout the day I would see different specialist. A physical therapist even came in to help me get up but I was up and sitting. |

I would highly recommend OSU. I must admit that I wasn't looking forward to using this hospital, but now I am glad that my insurance dicated the change. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. I couldn't have gotten better care. |

I usually go to Mt Carmel East in Columbus Ohio. Mt Carmel's nursing staff is heads above University Hospital. |

The general care was good at University, however the nursing staff was ghastly. As I arrived on my floor a PCA came into the room and was rude and very nasty. When I challenged her behavior she physically assulted me by demanding in a statement, "Give me my equipment", whereby she physically yanked my blood pressure cuff off and pulse meter. This behavior was horrific. I, reported it of course, and the charge nurse basically poo'd poo'd me. Needless to say the PCA is still there and nothing was done to ensure other patients against her violent behavior. In addition, an RN that I understood became a nurse at nearly 60 years old was unflexible to meeting my nursing needs. I tend to get infections quite easy and my JP drain wound was spilling over and the bandage needed changed. However, when I asked at around 7:30 am if the RN would change the bandage he proceeded to tell me that it was time for meds to be passed and my changing my dressing would have to wait until 10:00 am. During this time I had to have 2 gown changes due to becoming soaking wet with drainage. I never reported this, however this RN needs a lesson in flexibility. Overall, I would never choose OSU again unless my physician made that choice for me. |

The staff seemed to forget I had also had an open total hysterectomy at the same time. They forgot to close my door most of the time and there was construction being done in the hall outside my door (with jackhammers!)
I had an episode of chest pain that wasn't relayed to any doctor for 60 minutes. My aide was a snot and asked if I'd had panic attacks before. Very disrespectful staff. |

OSU is a great institution, I workd for a local hospital, and am embarassed to say that OSU provides better care than my employer. |

I had requested a bariatric suite when my surgery date was scheduled, and again when I registered the morning of surgery. The suite was awesome, there was a sitting area with a separate televison for visitors. There was a recliner that also functioned as a bed, which was nice as my mother stayed one night with me.
The staff was professional, courteous and friendly. I experienced horrible gas pains in my back, and my nurse was on top of things. She was able to get something aside from my PCA pump to alleviate the pain.
I had nursing assistants in my rooms to help when ever I needed.
I was treated with dignity and respect which is most important when you are in the hospital.
I would go back to OSU anytime, except it is a 100 miles from my home. |

| Through research. I found OSU to be the most educational program out there for baritric patients. This is a life altering decision and to have all the knowledge available to you and staff to treat you like a person not a number is extremely important. Every person associated with the end result were helpful from the instructors at the living well program who were the educators. The insurance processing to the actual surgeon and his staff perfroming the surgery. Dr. Needleman is very personable and I feel has been an excellent doctor thus far. I would reccomend him and do to anyone I come in contact with interested in learning about the surgery |

I HAD A PRIVATE BARIATRIC SUITE. IT WAS LARGER THAN ANOTHER ROOM AND MY HUSBAND STAYED WITH ME. THE BATHROOM WAS HUGE AND THE CHAIRS BIGGER FOR THE LARGER PATIENTS. THE GOWNS WERE HUGE AND WONDERFUL. THEY ACTUALLY WRAPPED AROUND ME AND THEN SOME!!! WHEN MY ROOM DOOR WAS CLOSED, IT WAS QUIET IN THERE, PLUS AS DARK AS I WANTED IT TO BE. THERE WAS A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OUT THE HUGE PICTURE WINDOW IN MY ROOM AND I GOT TO SEE DOWN TOWN COLUMBUS. THE ONLY THING I COULD BE NEGITIVE ABOUT WAS THEIR CHICKEN BROTH. IT WAS LIKE THEY DRUG A PIECE OF CHICKEN THROUGH A HOT BOWL OF WATER AND CALLED IT BROTH. BUT THEN AGAIN, I WASN'T EXACTLY HUNGRY EITHER!!! THE NURSES WERE WONDERFUL AND CHEERFULL EACH AND EVERYTIME THEY CAME INTO MY ROOM. THEY MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WASN'T A BURDEN TO THEM, AND I TRIED NOT TO BE!!! I'D TELL OTHERS TO GO THERE AND TO MY WONDERFUL DR. BRADLEY NEEDLEMAN!!! |

I did not like the semi-private rooms because you had to share telephones. There was one phone per two patients which was very disturbing if the other patient received a lot of phone calls |

| I was uncomfortable with the way the Barix Clinic handled my questions and concerns. So I found out about OSU and they were able to answer all my questions and had a very structured program that I felt comfortable with. |

| I selected the Ohio State University Baratric Clinic to help me with this procedure because they were associated with my insurance. My primary care physician also recomended them. |

OSU Medical center was excellent from the first time I went to see the nutritional counselor until I went to have my surgery done. |

I would recommend anyone use the Ohio State University Hospitals for their care. The staff and environment were excellent. |

The patient care was great. Every person that I met was very nice and quite accomodating. I had a room across from the nurses desk, I was amazed at how quiet it was when the door was shut. The bariatric suite was really nice. The hospital needs valet parking on the weekends. |
