Competitors: The Memorial Hospitals are wonderful compared to some of the others in the area. The nurses were wonderful. I had my husband stay with me when I was in the hospital because I have had bad expereiences in the past but he really didn't need to stay with me at Memorial, but it sure was nice having him there.
Comments: I went back the other day as my mother has By-Pass as well and the cafeteria was out of Carnation Instant Breakfast. :(

Comments: I was in ICU the first two days and I have to say the first nurse I had, was AWESOME her name was Rebecca, and my night nurse was also awesome, I wish i remembered her name! but the second day nurse I had was not a happy experience, she treated me like a second class citizen, if it wasn't for her I would have written a better review. I can't remember her name either, but she was a latina, with long curly wavy hair.

Competitors: I have been admitted on three other occasions to a hospital and this experience was by far the best.

How Selected: Chosen by Memorial Healthcare IPA Group.
Competitors: I like this MUCH better than its behemoth sister facility -- Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Although the care and facilities there are quite good, this facility is small enough to make every patient feel important.
Comments: My initial impressions are strong. It is a smaller sized facility with an incredibly personal touch. The pre-op process was amazingly quick and efficient. I hope the surgery is just as smooth.

How Selected: It is the hospital my doctor works out of, but the hospital came up early in my research because it is a Center of Excellence for Obesity.
Competitors: Better than any other California hospital I have been in. The nurses and doctors were wonderful.
Comments: I had a corner room farthest from the nurses desk. I had my own room. They responded immediately to anything I asked for. Very, very clean and organized. My only complaint was the phone would not hang up in laying on the bed, which was probably a blessing in disguise. When I was ready I turned my cell phone on.

Competitors: Don't have alot of experience with hospitals, but from what little experience I do have this hospital is great. I would definitely consider using this hospital again should the need arise.
Comments: Great Hosp. 99.9% of the staff were awesome. I only had problems with 1 night nurse the entire time I was there. Everyone else was great. Including my ICU nurse, Todd, and 2 of my CNA's Pia and Joselito.

Comments: I was very disappointed with some of the nursing staff. Aside from a few wonderful nurses, the rest were horrible (that cared for me). Both night shift RN's never even looked at my incisions and never did an assessment and the first night the RN did not check my narcotics and they ran out and I had to walk to the desk to get someone to help me.

Comments: I was disappointed in the nursing staff at times. One night I had to go to the restroom but needed the nurse because of the IV. It took them about 10 mins. to respond so I wet myself a little. When the nurse arrived, I asked for a new gown because I was a little wet and the nurse told me that it would dry and I'd be okay.

Comments: The day staff was GREAT!!!! Very helpful, friendly and always there when you needed them. My DH didn't have to run around looking for people to help me. Now the night staff was HORRIBLE!!!They were rude and my DH would always have to go to the front desk and ask for help. At one point my machines were unplugged for 2-3 hours before anyone came into my room. I fell asleep and when I woke up my machines still hadn't been plugged in!!! On top of that I was in patient parking for two nights and they left me citation and said they were going to tow my car!?!?! lol

How Selected: It is where my doctor performs his surgeries.
Competitors: It was terrible. I have been admitted to Saddleback Memorial on 2 occassions while having my two sons and the care was second to none!!! I hoped to have the same experience at OCM knowing that it was memorial affiliated, however, that didn't happen.
Comments: I was never asked by the staff how my pain level was doing. Each time I had to ask for medication. My monitor was beeping almost the whole time I was there and they couldn't find out why. Finally, they realized it was due to my heart rate being too high. Couldn't believe it took 2 days to figure that out. When I would call the nurses station to let them know I was beeping again, it could take up to 10-15 minutes to get someone to come in. The gal sharing the room had the same experience which was frustrating because it was hard to rest. I was left in the restroom several times to fend for myself. Was often left along time after ringing the nurses station that I had to use the restroom. The foot stimulator on my bed wasn't working and no one noticed. I had to ask for a clock to be brought into my room as there wasn't one. I can't remember my linens being changed other that the time I asked them to. Overall, it was a lousy experience and I couldn't wait to get home!!!! Very sad to pay thousands and thousands of dollars and to receive that type of lowsy care!!
